Learn how to make a window card design with an inside pop-up section! The inside pop-up section is a z fold style and it’s super simple to create. The cards feature the Hello Harvest Bundle and the Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these fun fold cards.
Window Card Design
First let’s talk about creating the window card design. You can easily create a “window” on the front of your card using any shape. Circles, Squares, and Rectangles work fabulous! The window on this card features the use of the Layering Circle Dies from Stampin’ Up! The key to creating this style of pop-up card is to choose a die set that you can layer together. I have a scalloped circle and a stitched circle layered together to create the focal point for the front of the card.
Start by stamping the pumpkin image across the card front using Cajun Craze ink. Once you have that complete, lay the largest scallop circle die on the card front and run it through your embossing machine. It will create a scalloped opening in the center of the card front which will serve as the “window” for this card.
Now take the same large scallop circle shape and cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Choose another circle die which is smaller than the scalloped circle. Cut this circle shape from a piece of white cardstock. Stamp the pumpkin on the white circle shape using black memento ink. Color in the image using stampin’ blends or your favorite coloring tools. Adhere the two circle shapes together. We are now ready to create the pop up section for the inside of the card.
Creating the Pop Up
To create the pop-up section for the inside of the card, start by cutting a 5-1/4 x 8 inch piece of white cardstock. Score the 8-inch side at 2 and 4 inches. Fold the cardstock in half at the 4-inch score line, then fold the 2-inch section back onto itself. You have just created a z-fold style section for the inside of the cards! Adhere to the inside of the card so the fun fold section on the right side of the inside of the card.
Close the card front over the pop up fun fold section. Add a bit of glue to the white cardstock which is showing through the right side of the scalloped window opening. Lay the scalloped circle (with the pumpkin image) in the window opening. Press down so it secures to the glue on the inside flap of the fun fold section. Open the card and you will notice only the right side of the scalloped circle is adhered to the inside of flap of the fun fold card.
Now you can finish decorating the card! I recommend watching the video to see the creation of this window card design and the pop-up section! Both of these cards were created with the same measurements; the only difference is how the cards are decorated.
