Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it! So today I want to share 5 cute and easy cards to make for Valentine’s day. The cards feature simple stamping or, what I like to call, getting back to the basics. Sometimes we get so caught up in all of the fancy tools and techniques that we forget how pretty cards are when we just use stamps, ink and paper.
Now one of the cool things about these cards is that you can use the card designs over and over again to create cards for any occasion! I will share a design tip with you so that you can create all sorts of quick and simple cards for any occasion.
Creating the Focal Point
Deciding on what type of focal point you want for your card is one of the best ways to help you get started in the designing process. This is an important step in the design process because your focal point will help you play around with different ideas for the background of the card.
Creating the focal point is first thing I did when designing these 5 cards. The focal point for the cards is the hearts. Each card features one, two or three layers of heart for the focal point. One layer is the stamped image that says “Happy Valentine’s Day.” A two layer focal point includes the stamped image as well as a scalloped or lace doily heart. A three layer focal point includes the stamped images, scalloped heart and a lace doily. So my tip for you is to decide what you want to use for your focal point first.

Cute and Easy Card Decorating Ideas
Lately you have expressed a lot interest in decorating ideas for the inside of your handmade cards. So today, I am sharing a quick and simple idea that you can use for all 5 of these cards.
Cut a 3/4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the inside of the card as shown. Then simply stamp a sentiment and add a few stamped heart images. It’s a quick and simple way to decorate the inside of the card. Scrap pieces of patterned paper work great for decorating the inside of the card.
Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Bundle
Now the cards I am sharing today feature the Heartfelt bundle from Stampin’ Up. This particular bundle of products includes a stamp set and two heart punches: a scalloped heart and regular heart shape. These punches work fabulous for layering! And of course the heart doilies compliment the heart shapes from the punch.
Now the ideas I am sharing today can be used for Valentine’s Day or for any other occasion. Yes, the designs can be used to create birthday cards, anniversary card or any other card you need. Simply change out the focal point. In other words, use a different shape for your focal point like a circle, square, etc. Of course you can also change out patterned paper as well for a whole new look!
