Looking for a card design that’s simple to make but packs a big “wow” when opened? The Pop Up Pillar Card is just what you need! This fun fold is such a showstopper—it stands up beautifully for display and folds down completely flat for mailing. How cool is that?
Pop Up Pillar Design
This Pop Up Pillar Card is a creative fold where a vertical pillar “pops up” when the card is opened, giving it a 3D look that’s perfect for display. But the best part? It folds down flat, into an A2 size, so you can easily tuck it into an envelope and send it through the mail.
Let’s talk about how to create the base of this pop up pillar card. Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/4″ piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/4″ side at 1/2, 2, 2-1/2, and 4″. Fold on all the score lines to create a 3D box style pillar on the left side of the card base. Adhere the 1/2″ section down to the base of the card to create the pop up pillar. Be sure to watch the video to see the assembly of this card in action!

The first picture shows the card in its 3D popped up form. The second pictures shows how the pillar folds down flat for ease in mailing. The last picture shows the inside of the card.
Textured Notes
These pop up pillar cards feature the Textured Notes Bundle from Stampin’ Up! The textured images and sweet sentiments in this bundle work beautifully with this card design. But don’t worry if you don’t have this bundle! One of the best things about this design is that it’s very versatile. Use what you have—coordinating patterned paper, florals, sentiments, you name it!

This particular card showcases just one color – Gray Granite. The previous card features just Pecan Pie ink. The images in the Textured Notes Bundle make it so easy to stamp a beautiful card in minutes! Plus, you can use the stamp off technique to get a lighter shade of ink when stamping. This technique enables you to use one ink color to create dark and light shaded images when stamping. To learn more about this technique, check out one of my past blog posts HERE.
