Learn how to create this simple yet unique 3D Pop Up Flowerpot Card. When on display, this flowerpot showcases a beautiful floral arrangement. The card also folds flat to a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch standard card size for ease in mailing.
This flowerpot card is my own unique design. I wanted to design something special for Mother’s Day. However, it can be used to create cards for any occasion.
Creating the Flowerpot
First let’s talk about how to create the flowerpot design. Start with two pieces of white cardstock measuring 4-1/4 x 2-3/4 inches. Measure in 7/8 of an inch on the bottom left and bottom right side of each piece. Make a cut from the left pencil mark up to the left corner of the white cardstock. Next, make a cut from right pencil mark up to the right corner of the white cardstock.
Now that you have the base of the flowerpot created, let’s create the top. Cut two pieces of white cardstock at 4-1/4 x 1 inches. Emboss each flowerpot along with the 1-inch tops. Adhere the 1-inch top to each of the flowerpots with a bit of liquid glue.
Now that you have the basic design for the flowerpot, we need to create the 3D pieces for the box to support it. I recommend watching the video to see this process in action!
Decorating the Flowerpot
Once you have created the 3D flowerpot, you are ready to decorate it! These cards feature some of the die cut shapes from the Saying Something and Fully Flowering Ephemera packs from Stampin’ Up!
I really enjoy using ephemera packs because the die cut shapes are already colored, pre-cut and ready to use! This makes it so easy to get to the fun part…the decorating!
I simply adhered a flower shape to the inside section of the flowerpot and one to the outside. Add a little greeting and a bit of linen thread to finish it off! So simple!
Each flowerpot card also includes a little 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch card insert. The card simply slides into the back section of the flowerpot. It’s the perfect little place to stamp or write a personalized message to the recipient.
There are so many possibilities with this card design! You can use stamp images or any other supplies you have on hand to create flowers and greeting to decorate your flowerpot.
