Learn how to create an offset gatefold card. And I have 4 different ways you can use this fun fold design in your card making. The cards feature the Fluffiest Friends Bundle and the Garden Walk Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand with this fun fold design.
Offset Gatefold Design
First let’s talk about the design of an offset gatefold. It’s basically a traditional gatefold style of card, the only difference is that the score line is offset. On a traditional gatefold card the score lines are such that the gatefold sections are equal. For an offset card, we will simply make the gatefold sections different sizes. You can find more gatefold ideas on my blog HERE.
To create the offset gatefold, start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 1-1/4 and 5-1/2 inches. Fold on the score lines to create the gatefold sections. The offset gatefold is the standard card size which measures 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches when closed.
Once you have created the gatefold card base, you can decorate it any way you want! These first two gatefold cards are decorated in portrait style. Notice how the small flap (the 1-1/4 inch section) is on the right side for the first card. For the second card, I simply turned the card around so that small section was on the left side. It gives the card a different look.
Landscape Style
The second set of cards features the offset gatefold design in landscape style. Yes, you can completely change the look of the card simply by changing the orientation. The cool thing about these cards is that the measurements for creating the fun fold card base are exactly the same as the portrait style cards. I simply decorated the cards in landscape style.
One of the things I love to do with gatefold cards is to create some type of closure. This ensures that the gatefold sections stay closed. I recommend watching the video to see how easy it is to create a closure for any gatefold card!
Fluffiest Friends
Now that you know how to create the offset gatefold design, you can really use it with any supplies that you have on hand. Since I am working with the Fluffiest Friends Bundle, I simply changed out the images and the colors to create a whole new look! The gatefold card base is created the exact same way as I shared earlier in this post. And, of course, you can decorate it portrait or landscape style.

Hi Pat, I can see the cards from my desktop and phone. If you are trying to look at the pics from the email notification, sometimes the pics are hidden or reduced in size. This is a feature of your email provider.
