Christmas Scottie Card Ideas

Today I have a variety of simple card ideas to share featuring the Christmas Scottie Bundle from Stampin’ Up! Don’t have that bundle? No worries! You can use these card layouts and ideas with any supplies you have on hand. Just get creative with it!

Christmas Scottie

Let’s start out with a few card ideas featuring the Christmas Scottie in plaid. I love the look of the plaid so I was immediately drawn to the large plaid stamp in this set. The very first thing I did was stamp that plaid image in the background on the first card. Ink up the image with Early Espresso ink and stamp it three times down the front left side of the Real Red card base. Cut a 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Tear this cardstock piece in half and adhere one of the torn halves to the right side of the card front. Then simply decorate as desired.

The second card layout features the plaid image stamped on a 1-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch piece of Real Red cardstock. You only have to stamp the plaid twice. You can add a little greeting over the section where the plaid images meet. Cut a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch piece of whtie cardstock. Emboss it with your favorite embossing folder. Adhere the plaid and white cardstock to a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Add a 3/4 x 3-1/2 inch strip of Early Espresso across the “seam” where the plaid and white cardstock meet. Then decorate as desired.

Using Up Scraps

The next two Christmas Scottie cards feature a great way to use up scraps! I had a few scrap pieces of the Santa Express Designer Series Paper left so I decided to use them up with these card designs. The first layout features a 1-1/2 x 3-3/4 inch piece of DSP on the top and bottom of a 4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Add a 2 x 4 inch piece of Real Red across the center of the card. Cut a 3/4 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock and adhere it across the Real Red cardstock. Then decorate as desired.

The second card idea is very similar. Start with a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Cut two piece of designer series paper at 1 x 3-3/4. Adhere one to the top and one to the bottom of a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock. Adhere the white and early espresso cardstock together and then adhere to the card front. Cut two pieces of Real Red cardstock at 1/4 x 3-3/4 inches and adhere to the card front as shown. Decorate as desired.

Simple Stamping

The last two Christmas Scottie card ideas feature some simple stamping. The first card showcases the adorable scottie dog on the plaid image from the set. Simply stamp the plaid, using real red ink, on a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp the scottie dog and punch it out with the Scottie Dog punch. Add a bit of hand stitching around the white carstock using a stampin’ write marker. Adhere the white cardstock to a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of Early Espreso cardstock. Add a piece of torn white cardstock and stamp a greeting. Super simple and fun!

The last card idea showcases a fun way to the use the ribbon image from the Christmas Scottie stamp set. Stamp the ribbon image around the outside of the a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp a few snoeflake images using Balmy Blue ink. Add the focal point and decorate as desired. For more card ideas featuring the Christmas Scottie, check out these easy gift card holders HERE.
