Slimline cards have been all the craze lately! So I finally decided to create one. This particular card is much different in size from the standard cards we are use to. As such, I put together a template for creating a coordinating envelope! The cards feature the Words of Cheer Bundle from Stampin’ Up! and a variety of products from the July-December 2021 Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog. However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these cards.
Slimline Cards
The slimline card measures 3-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches when closed. To create the base of the card, simply cut a 7 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock and score the 7 inch side at 3-1/2 inches. You are able to create one slimline card from an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock.
Of course you can decorate your slimline card with any supplies you have on hand. Both cards showcase the Words of Cheer Bundle from Stampin’ Up! I changed the look of the card simply by using different Designer Series Paper (DSP). The first card features the Heartwarming Hugs DSP and the second card features the Peaceful Place DSP. The actual design/layout is identical. For all the measurements, be sure to download the free tutorial below.
Slimline Envelope Template
Now I cannot share a new card idea with you without having an envelope idea to go with it! Right?! The Slimline cards would fit into a business style envelope but that’s no fun! So I decided to create a decorative envelope for my slimline cards using DSP.
Start with an 8-1/4 x 11-1/2 inch piece of DSP. Score from the 8-1/4 inch side (top down) at 4 and 8 inches. Score the 11-1/2 inch side at 2 and 11 inches. Fold on all the scores lines. Cut out the sections that are highlighted in yellow. You can fancy up the 2 x 4 inch section (on the top) using one of the Basic Border Dies. That section is the flap for the top of the envelope. Be sure to watch the video to see the creation of this envelope in action!
