Let’s shake things up today with some fun and simple Birthday Shaker card ideas. The cards feature the use of a clear envelope to create the shaker section and it’s super easy to do! The clear envelopes have a variety of different uses but I bet this particular use will become one of your favorites! The great thing about these card layouts is that you really use them to create shaker cards with any stamp sets or supplies you have on hand.
Portrait Style Shaker Card
The first birthday shaker card idea features a portrait style card. The key to creating the shaker card is to decorate your cardstock first. Start with a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp a birthday greeting on the top of the white cardstock and add a bit of patterned paper and some adorable little ice cream cone images. I recommend popping up the ice cream cones with a few dimensionals.
Once your white cardstock piece is decorated, you can simply slide it into the clear envelope, add the sprinkles, seal up the envelope and adhere it to your card front. The last step in the process is to “shake” the card! Super fun! Be sure to watch this week’s video to see the creation of this shaker card in action!
Landscape Style Shaker Card
The second card idea features a landscape style shaker card. The concept for creating this birthday shaker card is the same as the previous one. Start by decorating a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. In this case, the cardstock is decorated with three different ice cream cone images and a stamped greeting. That’s it! The colorful look of this shaker card really comes from the Ice Cream Sprinkles which surround the decorations on the white cardstock.
Besides creating the shaker portion of the card, you can also decorate the inside of the card. Scrap pieces of patterned paper work well for decorating the inside of any card. However, if you do not have any scraps, you can cut 1/2, 3/4 or 1 inch wide strips of patterned paper to decorate the inside of the card.
