2 Card Designing Tips – Stampin Up Honey Bee

Today I want to share two card designing tips with you featuring the Stampin Up Honey Bee bundle. The reverse card designing tip will work with ANY patterned papers or stamp set that you have on hand. The other tip, which involves adding pops of colors, works well with black and white patterned papers.

2 Card Designing Tips - Stampin' Up Honey Bee

These particular cards feature the new Stampin Up Honey Bee bundle and some of the fun patterned papers in the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. So let’s take a closer look at these simple designing tips.

Adding Pops of Color

The first design tip I have for you involves adding pops of color. This tip works great with black and/or white patterned papers. Adding “pops” of color to these black patterned papers give the cards such an elegant look.

The key to using this card designing tip is to use large amounts of black patterned paper and then add a few pops of color. There are a variety of different ways that you can add pops of color. You can use ribbon, stamped images, card stock, embellishments or a combination of these.

Stampin Up Honey Bee - Adding Pops of Color

Since I am working with the Stampin Up Honey Bee set, I choose to use Daffodil Delight to add pops of color. The pops of yellow accent the card nicely since they go along with the honey bee theme.

Reverse Card Design

The next card design tip I have to share features what I like to call a reverse card design. Basically it involves reversing the way in which you adhere the patterned paper to your card front. This tip enables you to achieve a whole new look for the card without having to change the measurements of the patterned paper.

Both of these cards feature the exact same patterned papers and measurements. The patterned paper is cut a 1-1/2 x 4 (honey comb) and 3-3/4 x 4 inches (honey bees and hives). However, the arrangement of the patterned paper is reversed. The first card features the honey comb pattern on the bottom of the card front. The second card features the honey comb pattern on the top. One you have the basic layout and design, you can decorate the card the same or change them up a bit. As you can see, I changed up the embellishments a bit but the concept for creating them is the same.
