Metallic Textures for Card Making

One of my favorite ways to step up my holiday cards is by adding a little shimmer and shine. In today’s post, I’m sharing 4 simple Christmas card ideas that feature Metallic Textures Rub-On Elements from Stampin’ Up! These fun metallic accents are from the Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog. However, they coordinate perfectly with the Traditions of Christmas products in the 2025 September–December Mini Catalog.

Metallic Textures

Metallic Textures are lightweight elements that are easily applied just by rubbing them on. No special tools are required! You can transfer the metallic design to your cards simply by using your finger. A bone folder works great too! Simply cut out the metallic texture design from the sheet, peel off the backing, place it on your project, and rub it on. They are so simple to use and there are a variety of different designs.

I am pairing the metallic textures with the beautiful Traditions of Christmas Designer Series Paper. The gold accents in the paper and the metallic textures make it so easy to create simple yet beautiful cards. The metallic textures are featured on the left and right side of these cards. Simple rub them on the cardstock and then decorate around them. You can get all the measurements for these cards in the free tutorial below.

Traditions of Christmas

Each of the cards I am sharing today combine the metallic textures with products from the NEW Traditions of Christmas Suite from Stampin’ Up! The traditional Christmas colors, festive patterns, and gold accents in the patterned paper pair up perfectly with the gold metallic texture rub-ons.

For these cards, I simply added the metallic textures around the focal point of the cards. It gives a little extra touch to the design and really accents the focal point. You can apply them directly onto cardstock, patterned paper, or even die cuts. They’re versatile enough for any style of card making and perfect for Christmas projects when you want just a touch of shine.
