Today we are going to play around with just one 12 x 12 ” sheet of patterned paper from the Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper pack and turn it into 8 adorable cards. This particular sheet of patterned paper has a one sheet wonder cutting template built right into it! With a few modifications, you can create a variety of A2 size cards.
One Sheet Wonder Template
For this project, I used a 12 x 12″ sheet from the Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper pack. This paper features adorable turtle-themed scenes on one side and a coordinating pattern on the other. Start by cutting apart the different scenes and patterns. I cut horizontally first and then cut the 10 individual patterned pieces. Once you have all the pieces cut, use my template to create the additional pieces.

Now we are going to look at some fun ways to use the cut pieces:
- Scene Panels – Create a great background for your card front.
- Pattern Mix – Use the different patterned pieces to create a fun layered look on the cards.
- Accent Strips – Use the narrow scraps to decorate the inside of your cards.
Turtle-y Cute Cards
Let’s talk about how to use some of the 6 x 4″ pieces cut from the Turtle-y Cute Designer Paper. These pieces work great for creating the background scene for your card. In order to create these cards in A2 size, you will have to cut the 6″ side down to 5-1/2″ or smaller. Refer to the template to guide the cutting process.

Once you have the scene cut to fit your A2 size card, adhere it to a card front and decorate it! The turtles and other images (i.e. picnic basket, beach ball, etc.) were cut from some of the other Turtle-y Cute DSP papers. Add a little greeting and embellish as desired. Such a super simple way to create some cute cards.

Smaller Template Pieces
Now let’s talk about how to cut up one of the scenes to create two cards. Since the scene is a 6 x 4″ piece, simply cut the 6″ side in half at 3.” This will create two pieces measuring 3 x 4″ which you can use to create these first two cards. Create a few different layers to showcase the scene. The Early Espresso cardstock layer is 3-1/2 x 3-3/4.” The Calypso colored patterned paper are some 2 x 5″ pieces I had left over from the Beautiful Bokeh DSP pack. Adhere all the layers and decorate as desired.

The next turtle-y sweet card showcases a great way to stretch the beehive patterned paper. Simply cut the 4″ side in half at 2″ to create two pieces which measure 2 x 3″. Adhere one to each side of the card front and then add your focal point. Super simple and a great way to get the most out of your paper.

Using Up Scraps
The last two turtle-y cute card ideas feature a great way to use up scrap pieces of paper. All the scraps measure 4 x 1.” The polka dot paper comes from the 4 x 3″ piece which had the turtle wedding scene. I simply used the reverse side of the paper (instead of the wedding scene). For the first card idea, simply layer together 4 scraps pieces of patterned paper as shown. Create a focal point with a die cut shape and a cute turtle image.

The second card idea features the 3 x 4″ blue checkered paper in the center of the card front. Add a 1 x 4″ piece of polka dot paper to each side of the blue paper. Finish it off with two strips of Real Red cardstock cut to 1/4 x 4.”
