Diagonal Split Card Design

Looking for a fun and simple way to step up your card making? Today, I’m sharing a Diagonal Split Card Design that’s simple yet versatile! You’ll learn 4 different ways to use this design to create cards for any occasion. This simple design can be used with patterned paper or cardstock. Plus, you can create these cards in either portrait or landscape orientation. This means you have 4 ways you can use this design in your card making!

Split Card Design

First let’s talk about how to create the split card design. It simply involves cutting a 2-3/4 x 5 inch piece of patterned paper or cardstock in half diagonally. For this split card design, place the paper on a slight angle in your paper trimmer so the 2-3/4 inch side is towards the top. I recommend watching the video for some tips on placement of the paper.

The first card features the use of patterned paper to create the diagonal design. Simply adhere the patterned paper pieces to a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. This provides a small section of white space in the center of the card which is prefect for stamping a greeting.

The second card features the diagonal design using white cardstock. For this design, simply adhere the diagonal white cardstock pieces to a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of patterned paper. Notice how the paper measurements are the same but by switching the layers it creates a whole new look!

Card Orientation

Now that you know how to create the diagonal split card design, you can create it in landscape or potrait style. Simply changing the orientation of the card before decorating it also creates a fun new look! Plus, you do not have to worry about new measurements. The diagonal pieces are created from a 2-3/4 x 5 inch piece of paper. Remember, you can use patterned paper or cardstock to create the diagonal pieces.

The cards feature the Poppin’ By Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, feel free to us any supplies you have on hand to create your diagonal design.
