Double One Sheet Wonder Template

Get ready to dive into your paper stash!  This week I’m sharing a Double One Sheet Wonder template that enables you to make 14 cards from two 12 x 12″ pieces of patterned paper.

This template includes 3 different card layouts, giving you some variety in your card making. You will learn how to use up both pieces of patterned paper as I walk you through the cutting process, layouts and assembly of the 3 different designs.

The cards feature a variety of products from the NEW Painterly Pears suite from Stampin’ Up! However, feel free to use this template with any supplies you have on hand.

The Cutting Template

First let’s talk about the cutting template for this double one sheet wonder. Start by choosing two pieces of coordinating patterned papers. For the cards I am sharing today, I chose papers from the Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper pack. One 12 x 12″ sheet features the pear and flower design with a large amount of white space in the middle. The second 12 x 12″ sheet is simply a Mossy Meadow (green) colored pattern which coordinates with the pears.

Stack the two 12 x 12″ pieces of patterned paper together so you can cut them both at the same time. Start by cutting the paper into 4 x 12″ strips. Next, take one of the 4 x 12″ strips and cut two pieces at 4 x 5-1/4″ (refer to the cutting template above). Repeat this cutting process with the other two 4 x 12″ pieces. You will have six pieces of each patterned paper which measure 4 x 5-1/4.” You will have 3 pieces of each patterned paper measuring 4 x 1-1/2 (as pictured above).

Diagonal Design

Once you have the patterned papers cut, in accordance with the Double One Sheet Wonder template, you are ready to create the 3 different card designs. Let’s start by creating 8 different cards with this diagonal design. For these cards, I am using the 4 x 5-1/4″ papers from each of the 4 corners of the template.

Cut the 4 x 5-1/4″ papers, in half, diagonally from corner to corner. Remember to cut the green pattern and the pear patterned papers together. You will end up with two triangular pear patterned pieces and two triangular green patterned pieces. Shuffle the pieces around so that you have two different triangular patterns together (one dark green and one pear pattern). You will be able to create two cards from cutting one of the stacks of 4 x 5-1/4″ papers.

Adhere the triangular pieces to an A2 size card front and then decorate as desired. Notice the position of the pear pattern on each of these cards (it ends up on the top or the bottom). If you have a directional design like these pears, and the design ends up sideways, you can easily create landscape style cards instead of these portrait style cards. Which means there is lots of versatility with the designs.

4 Card Panel Design

Now let’s talk about how to use the remaining two stacks of the 4 x 5-1/4″ pieces (the middle section) of the Double One Sheet Wonder template. This time you are going to separate the 4 x 5-1/4″ pieces. Cut the pear patterned papers together and then cut the green pattern papers together. Start by cutting the patterned papers with the pear design in half so you end up with 4 pieces measuring 2 x 5-1/4.” Next, cut the 4 x 5-1/4″ green patterned papers so you end up with 8 pieces measuring 1 x 5-1/4.”

You will be able to make 4 cards by cutting up the pear and green patterned papers. Each card features two pieces of the 1 x 5-1/4″ green patterned papers and one 2 x 5-1/4″ piece of the pear pattern. The little pink banners actually are cut from the 4 x 1-1/2″ piece of “white” paper which is in the center of the one sheet wonder template. Remember the pear patterned paper has a lot of white space. So, you can flip over that center piece to reveal the pink pattern. Cut that 4 x 1-1/2″ piece into four pieces measuring 1 x 1-1/2.” Dovetail each end and adhere to the four cards as shown.

2 Card Panel Design

The last two card ideas feature the remaining 5 pieces of patterned paper cut from the Double One Sheet Wonder template. Each of the remaining pieces measure 4 x 1-1/2.” You will have 3 pieces with the green pattern and two pieces with the pear pattern. Take one of the 4 x 1-1/2″ pieces of green patterned paper and cut in half to create two pieces measuring 3/4 x 4.”

Arrange the patterned paper pieces, from left to right, across the card front as follows:

  • 3/4 x 4″ green pattern
  • 1-1/2 x 4″ pear pattern
  • 1-1/2 x 4″ green pattern

You will have enough pieces to create these two panel style card designs. Feel free to decorate them as desired.
