Looking for a creative and efficient way to make multiple cards at once? The Diagonal Stack, Cut & Shuffle technique is a must-try! This simple yet striking method lets you create four different cards using just two pieces of patterned paper. In this tutorial, I’m featuring the beautiful products from the Floral Charm Suite by Stampin’ Up!, but feel free to use any supplies you already have on hand.
Stack Cut and Shuffle
First let’s talk about how to use the stack, cut and shuffle technique to create the diagonal design. If you are not familiar with this technique, it simply involves stacking some different patterned papers together and cutting them all at the same time.

You can make the cuts in any direction you want to create a fun pattern. For the card ideas I am sharing today, I am using two pieces of patterned paper measuring 4-1/4 x 5-1/2.” To create the diagonal design, start by making a cut from the upper right side of the papers down to lower left side. The second cut is made from corner to corner. Turn the papers so that the upper left and lower right corners are in the grove of the paper trimmer and make the cut. You will be making an X type of design across the papers when cutting. I recommend watching the video to see this process in action.
Diagonal Design
Once you make those two cuts, it will give you 8 different pieces to work with. Shuffle the papers around to create the diagonal design. Each card should have two pieces of patterned paper which fit perfectly together in the diagonal formation.

Adhere the two pieces of patterned paper next to each other on the card front to create the diagonal backdrop for each of the cards.

You can create the same focal point for each card or do something different on each card. You can even change the orientation of the cards to create them in portrait or landscape style. Be sure to download the free tutorial for all the details on these cards.
Floral Charm
The cards feature a variety of products from the Floral Charm Suite from Stampin’ Up! However, feel free to use any supplies you have on hand to create your diagonal design.

These 4 cards feature the same design as the first 4 cards. The only difference is that I used different patterned papers and colors.

The focal point is the same for all 8 cards. Simply cut about a 2″ square shape from a piece of white cardstock (or use the Stylish Shapes Dies to create this piece). Stamp a greeting on it using Early Espresso ink. Stamp the floral image and add color using sponge daubers. Embellish as desired.
