February 2024 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

The February 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit is called Sweet Springtime. The kit contains all the supplies you need to create 6 cards and 3 treat boxes. Today, I will focus on some alternate ways to use the exclusive stamp set and the kit supplies to create additional cards and alternate designs.

Paper Pumpkin Kit

The February 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit features 2 different card designs as well as a treat box idea. The kit comes with enough supplies to create 6 cards; 3 of each of the 2 different designs. The kit also includes 3 milk carton treat containers. I decided not to cut apart the treat containers this time, but you certainly can if you want to use the patterns for card making.

These are the 3 different projects you can create with the supplies in the kit. There are 6 different stamp images in the exclusive stamp set which comes in the kit. Plus, there is also an add on die set which coordinates with this and 2 other kits! The add-on die set is called the Love of Spring Dies. This die set includes 4 different dies which coordinate with the January, February and March 2024 Paper Pumpkin kits! Learn more about these dies HERE.

Kit Card Bases

One of my favorite things to do when creating alternative card designs is to cut up the decorative card bases which come in each kit. Typically, the card bases have a design on the front and back of each one. This enables me to cut apart the card bases and use them as patterned paper to make additional cards. The card bases in this particular kit had a floral pattern, pink gingham and the cute little bunny scene. Of course, when you cut apart the card bases in the kit, you will have to use your own supplies to create more card bases.

To create the background on the first card, I cut a 1-5/8 x 5-1/2 inch piece of floral-patterned paper from one of the card bases in the kit. Adhere the floral paper down the right side of a white card base. The focal point features all elements which came in the kit.

The second card is simply the bunny scene on one of the card bases adhered to the front of a white card base which I created with my own supplies.

The third card idea is simply the bunny scene cut down to a 4-1/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece. The bunny scene is adhered to a Granny Apple Green card base. The reason I cut apart the card base, with the bunny scene, in the kit is so that I could use the pink gingham (the back side of the kit card base) to create the next two cards.

Pink Gingham Background

You can use either the pink gingham pattern from the back of the kit card bases or from the envelopes to create these two fun designs. To create the first card, start with a piece of white cardstock for the base of the card. You can add texture to the card base by doing a little embossing. Add a 3/4 x 4-1/2 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to the left side of the card front. Cut a 3 x 3-3/4 inch piece of pink gingham and adhere it to a 3-1/8 x 3-7/8 inch piece of Petal Pink cardstock. Adhere the gingham layers to the card front as shown. Cut a 3/4 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Petal Pink cardstock. Stamp a greeting on a 2-1/2 x 3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Adhere the petal pink layer and the greeting across the card front as shown. Embellish with kit elements and/or die cut shapes.

The base for the second card features a piece of Petal Pink cardstock. Add a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Cut a 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of the pink gingham paper and adhere it to the center of the white cardstock. Add a 3-1/2 x 1 inch piece of the floral paper. Cut a variety of different elements to decorate the card using the Love of Spring Dies.

The layout for this last card idea features a 1-3/8 x 4-1/2 inch piece of the pink gingham paper. Adhere it to an embossed card base. Add a 2-3/8 x 2-3/8 inch square shape to the center of the card front. Cut a 3 x 3/4 inch piece of the floral paper and adhere it across the bottom of the square shape. Embellish with a variety of elements from the kit.

Kit Envelopes

You can also cut apart the envelopes which come in the kit to obtain different pieces of patterned paper to use for additional card making. This time I paired up the kit supplies with a brand-new embossing folder! Yes, you get a sneak peek of one of the NEW Online Exclusives which will be launched in March 2024. The embossing folder is one of two different folders in the Fun Patterns pack. I thought the floral pattern went perfect with these springtime cards.

For both cards, I embossed the white card front with one of the Fun Patterns embossing folders. The first card features a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the green gingham paper to the right side of the card front. Create the layers with a 1-1/2 x 4 inch piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock and a 2-3/8 x 3 inch piece of the floral paper. Embellish with elements from the kit and/or die cut shapes.

The second card features a 1-1/8 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the green gingham across the bottom of the card front. Cut down the grassy element from the kit and adhere it behind a 3/4 x 4 inch piece of the floral paper. Add a greeting stamped on a 2-1/2 x 3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Embellish with elements from the kit.

Love of Spring Dies

The focal point on each of these last two cards features a few die cut shapes using The Love of Springtime Dies. These particular dies are available in the online store HERE while supplies last. The dies coordinate with the January, February and March Paper Pumpkin kits! You can easily color coordinate the die cut shapes with the patterned papers from the kit envelopes and card bases.
