Rustic Christmas Card Ideas

Let’s play around with the Rustic Christmas Countdown kit! The kit features all of the supplies you need to create a rustic style advent calendar. The supplies in this kit are so beautiful that I just had to make a few Christmas cards with it. So today I have 4 different card ideas to share to help you get the most out of this kit. If you use these 4 different layouts, you can create 20 or more Christmas cards with this kit!

Rustic Christmas

First let’s talk about the supplies in the Rustic Christmas Countdown kit. The kit comes with 25 envelope style pouches as well as 25 different die cut elements you can use to decorate the pouches. Now you can certainly use the supplies in the kit to create a stunning countdown calendar. However, you can also use the supplies to create a variety of Christmas cards! All you have to do is cut apart the envelope style treat pouches and use them as patterned paper on your cards. Be sure to watch the video HERE to see how I cut them apart.

The first card features the die cut wreaths from the kit. They make a fabulous focal point for card making! Start with a piece of Early Espresso cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 2-7/8 x 5 inch piece of paper from one of the linen style pouches. Add a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock behind the linen paper and adhere to the card front. Decorate the card with a variety of die cut shapes from the kit!

The second card features a 2-7/8 x 3 inch piece of linen style paper cut from one of the pouches. Add a 1-3/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock and adhere to an embossed card base. Decorate with the poinsettia die cut shape from the kit and add a greeting. You can use any stamp set you have on hand to add the greetings!

Boughs of Holly

The next set of cards feature the boughs and holly die cuts from the Rustic Christmas Countdown kit. For these cards, create a standard card base using Crumb Cake cardstock. You can emboss the card front to add more depth and dimension. I also decided to use a bit of the Joyful Specialty Designer Series Paper along with the linen paper. Remember, the linen style pieces were cut directly from the treat pouches which come in the kit.

For the first card, start with a 1 x 4-1/4 inch piece of the music note paper (Joyful DSP) and adhere it to the left side of the card front. Cut a 2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of the linen paper. Next, cut a 3/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock and adhere it to the left side of the linen paper before adding it to the card front. Cut two pieces of the wood grain paper (from the kit) down to 3/4 x 1/2 inches and adhere them to the card front as shown. Decorate the card with some of the elements from the kit and add a greeting.

The second card idea features a 1-1/2 x 4-3/4 inch piece of the music note paper on the right side of the card front. Cut a 2-7/8 x 4 inch piece of the linen paper. Stamp the Joy of Noel image on the linen paper using Early Espresso ink. Cut a 1/4 x 4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock and adhere it to the left side of the linen paper. Embellish the card with the holly and berries.
