The July 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit is called Fun in the Sun. The kit contains all the supplies you need to create 9 cards; 3 of each of the 3 different fun fold designs. In this video, I will focus on some alternate ways to use the exclusive stamp set and the kit supplies to create over 20 cards!
Paper Pumpkin Kit
The 3 different card designs in July 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit are fun fold cards! The cards are a step-style fun fold which give a 3D effect as they stand on their own (as shown). However, they also accordion fold up for ease in mailing. Here are the three designs from the kit.

I typically like to create each one of each of the cards from the kit before I start to create alternate designs. The exclusive stamp set from this kit features 10 images you can use to create the kit projects. However, you can also use them to create additional cards. Simply combine a few of your own supplies along with the kit supplies to enhance your card making experience with this kit.
Palm Trees
The first couple of alternate card designs I created feature the palm trees. There are many different elements in this month’s kit which you can use individually to create so many cards! I also cut apart the remaining fun fold card bases to use as “patterned paper” on the cards. The first card showcases two of the elements from the kit: The paper with the sun and palm trees and the bottom piece, with the greeting, representing sand. I started by adhering a 3-1/2 x 2-1/4 inch piece of the light blue colored card base on the top center section of my Crumb Cake card base. Then I layered the other two pieces together, so they covered the center of the card front.

The second card design features the palm tree die cut image from the kit. Start by cutting a 3/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of the darker blue card base. Adhere this piece to the left side of the card front. Cut a 2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of one of the card base “scenes” and adhere it to the card front so it overlaps onto the blue piece. Stamp the sun image with Daffodil Delight ink. Adhere the palm trees and the greeting as shown.
Envelopes and Elements
The next two card ideas feature the large step card elements. Basically, these are the elements or die cut pieces that would be adhered to the steps of the fun fold cards from the kit. I simply used them as a background for these cards.

The next two cards feature a variety of different elements from the kit such as the crab, flip flops, starfish, shells and glasses. What is unique about these cards is that the background was created by cutting up one of the envelopes from the kit! The first card features a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of the light blue section of the envelope. Emboss the piece with your favorite embossing folder and create a 3 x 3 inch focal point.

The last card features the striped envelope flap in the background which is cut to 1-1/4 x 5 inches. Cut two pieces of the light blue section of the envelope to 3/4 x 4-1/4 inches and adhere them to each side of the striped piece. Then decorate as desired.
Using Up Scraps
Of course, you know how much I love to use up my scraps right away! These next two cards feature some of the leftover scraps from cutting up the fun fold card bases from the kit. The basic design for layers on both cards is 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 inches. I used a variety of scrap pieces to create the different layers.

The last couple of card ideas feature the front-facing pieces of the fun fold cards. Instead of creating a fun fold card, I used these pieces to create my own scenes.
