One Fun Fold Template – 3 Ways

Learn how to make 3 fun fold cards from one template! The card base for each of the 3 cards have the exact same measurements. This means that the fun fold section can be used 3 different ways in your card making.

The cards feature the products from the Splendid Thoughts Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these fun fold cards.

Fun Fold Template

Let’s start by talking about how to create the fun fold card base. The cool thing about this card base is that you can use it to create all 3 of these cards! Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 1 inch and 4-1/4 inches. Fold the card in half on the 4-1/4 inch score line as this will create a standard card base. Now take the 1-inch section and fold it back onto itself. This will create a little 1-inch flap on the front of the card which is the fun fold section. That’s it! It’s that simple!

Once you have created the card base, the sky is the limit for decorating it! Be sure to download the free tutorial below for the step-by-step instructions for decorating this card.

Alternate Idea

Now that you know how to use the fun fold template to create the card base, you can play around with the 1-inch fun fold section to create two additional designs. This particular design involves adhering the 1-inch flap down to the card front. Add a bit of patterned paper to the card front and then adhere the 1-inch fun fold flap down to the card front.

You basically end up with a card front which is 1-inch shorter than a standard card base. How fun is that? Of course, you can decorate the card with products from the Splendid Day Suite or use any other supplies you have on hand.

Gift Card Holder

The last way to use this fun fold template in your card making is to create a gift card holder. How do you do that? Well, I am glad you asked! Start by creating the card base using the template as described above. Now, take that 1-inch flap on the card front and fold it to the inside of the card. Use a little circle punch to create a notch in the 1-inch flap. Adhere just the top and bottom part of the 1-inch section to the inside of the card. This will create a little pocket for the gift card. I do recommend adding a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper to the inside of the card before securing the gift card holder section.
