Today I have a variety of simple card layouts to share featuring the Potted Geranium bundle. This is a brand-new stamp and die set from the Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog. It caught my eye right away because my mom loved geraniums. She always planted them in her beautiful flower pots every year.
Potted Geranium
First let’s talk about the Potted Geranium stamp set. It involves two-step stamping which I absolutely love! You can stamp the outline image in one color and then use the solid image to “fill” in the image with another color. Typically, I use a dark color for the outline image and a lighter color for the solid image. The leaves of the geranium feature Pear Pizzazz for the outline and Soft Sea Foam to color it in. Such a simple and stunning effect! The flowers have the same type of two step stamping, however I felt they were beautiful just stamped with Calypso Coral using the solid image.

I kept the card layouts very simple so that I didn’t take away from the beauty of the geranium. The first card features two layers of patterned paper: a 3 x 4 inch piece and a 2-1/2 x 2 inch piece. The geranium does the rest! The second card layout features a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper and a torn piece of pear pizzazz cardstock which is 5-1/2 inches long. Again, once you add the geranium as the focal point is just pops right off the card! I love it!
Design a Daydream
By now you are probably wondering what patterned paper I am using, right? Well, the cards feature a variety of different patterns from the Design a Daydream DSP pack. This particular pack of paper is a Host reward so you can get it FREE on individual or workshop orders totaling $150 or more. Check out the selection of host items HERE. Ok, let’s get back to the cards! The first card features two layers of Design A Daydream paper: a 3 x 4-1/2 inch piece down the center and a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece across the bottom. The second card showcases a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Design a Daydream paper on the right side of the card. However, on the left side of the card, I used a 1-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of the Calypso Coral paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper pack. However, keep in mind, you can really use any patterned papers you have on hand to create these card layouts.
Using Up Scraps
The last two card ideas feature a colorful background created with the leftover scraps. Yes, I try to use up my scrap pieces of patterned paper right away. Don’t save them, use them! You can use your scraps to decorate the inside of your cards. And you can also piece them together to create a pretty background. Simply lay the pieces on your card front and fit them together (like putting together a puzzle. You might have to trim them down a bit to create a 4 x 5-1/4 inch background. It’s fun to piece the scraps together to come up with a design.
