3 Card Making Ideas – Using Up Paper Scraps

Hello my Friends! Today I have 3 more card making ideas to share with you for using up paper scraps. The paper scraps that I am using showcase some of the beautiful patterns in the new Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper. I have several left over scraps from creating cards for this month’s club! I try to make it a habit to use up my scraps right away so I don’t end up with a large stash (like I already have).

3 Card Making Ideas Using Up Paper Scraps - Stampin Up Ornate Garden Suite

Two of the card layouts feature 3/4 inch wide scrap pieces. The other card features the use of 1 inch wide pieces. The designs are quick and simple and can be used with ANY paper scraps you have on hand.

Card Layouts for 3/4 Inch Scraps

The first two card making ideas that I want to share feature the 3/4 inch wide paper scraps. The paper scraps are arranged on the card front using different panel formations. It’s such a quick and simple way to use up these thin paper scraps.

The first card features 5 different paper scrap patterns above and below the greeting. The easiest way to create this look is to start by stamping your greeting on the card first. I recommend adhering the panels to a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. This will make it much quicker and easier to adhere the panels. Here’s why. Once you stamp the greeting, adhere the first panel just above the greeting. Let the excess paper hang off the edge of the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of cardstock. Adhere each of the other 4 paper scrap panels across the cardstock. Then simply trim off the excess paper so the panels are flush with the top of the cardstock. Repeat this process with the coordinating panels underneath the greeting. Then adhere the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of cardstock to the card front.

For the second card idea, I recommend cutting down your paper pieces to 3/4 x 4 inch size. You will need 5 paper scraps for this particular card layout. Simply arrange the panels across the center of your card front and then decorate as desired. Now just a little tip for you, start by adhering the center panel first.

Card Layout for 1 inch Scraps

This last panel card layout features 1 inch wide paper scraps. You can really cut these paper pieces to any length. For this card, the pieces are 5-1/4 x 4-3/4 and 4-1/4 inches in length. Adhere the pieces across the cardstock from the largest to the smallest. Then embellish the card as desired.
