As a card maker, I tend to save a lot of scrap pieces of paper for one day I will use them to make a card. Sound familiar? I bet you have a stash of little scrap pieces of paper too! Well today I want to share 3 simple card making ideas that will help you put those scraps to good use! The scraps used to create these cards some NEW products from the Ornate Garden Suite!

This week’s video features some simple card layouts that are perfect for using up those small scrap pieces of pattern paper you are saving. They are fun and simple ways to use up 1/2, 3/4 or 1 inch wide scrap pieces of paper. And if you are looking for more ways to use up scraps, check out some of these other card layouts HERE.
Card Making with Small Scraps
Now my stash of scraps contains a lot of small pieces of pattern paper. Typically these pieces are 1/2 or 3/4 inches wide and quite long. There are lots of ways that you can use these scraps to create simple yet stunning cards!

This first card idea is one of my favorite ways to use up scraps! It features a combination of 1/2 and 3/4 inch wide scrap pieces of paper. The concept for creating this card is pretty simple too! Just adhere the patterned paper, on a slight angle, across a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of cardstock. Alternate the 1/2 and 3/4 inch pieces as you adhere them to the cardstock. Leave the ends of the patterned paper hang off the side of the cardstock. Once you have finished adhering all of the pieces, use your scissors to trim off the excess pattern paper.
Panel Card Layouts
The next two cards are panel card designs. These layouts are such a great way to use small scraps of patterned paper. The cards feature a combination of 3/4 , 1 and 2 inch wide pieces of pattern paper scraps. The first panel card design almost looks like a little maze. All of the outer pieces are 1 inch wide. The center piece is slightly larger measuring 1-3/8 x 2-5/8 inches. I find that it’s much easier to lay out the pattern on the cardstock before trying to adhere them.
The last card idea is another panel card design featuring a combination of small and larger pieces of scrap paper. I recommend choosing a larger pattern for the focal point (center section) and two smaller pattern scraps to accent or compliment the larger one. For both of the panel cards, leave about a quarter inch space in between each piece as you adhere them.
