Rustic Wedding

The summer seems to be flying by! Probably because there are lots of exciting life events happening in our family!  At the beginning of summer we celebrated my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and my son’s graduation from college. Now we are busy preparing for his wedding! At the beginning of August, we held a bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law. They will be getting married on September 15, 2017! Now the invitations went out several months ago but, today, I wanted to take a moment to share them with you.

Yes, they are all handmade with love! My future daughter-in-law wanted me to design an invitation that had a rustic feel to it. I created variety of different samples for her and she fell in love with this one. We used neutral colors to create a soft yet natural look. The base of the inviation was created with crumb cake cardstock. This is a gate fold card so we cut the crumb cake cardstock at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches and then scored it at 2-1/8 and 6-3/8 inches. We stamped a few images in the corners of the card front using Soft Suede ink and then colored in the flowers with a white watercolor pencil. Using the Sweet & Sassy Heart shaped framelits, we created a focal point for the center of the invitation using vellum and cardstock. Only the left side of the heart is attached to the left side of the invitation (so you can open it). 🙂  For the finishing touch, we added a Very Vanilla Trim wrap to the card.

The bride, her mom, and I got together to create these invitations. We even got the groom to join in. 🙂 We made about 75 in all. They turned out absolutely beautiful!  I promised her that I wouldn’t share the invitations on any of my crafting sites until I knew for sure that everyone had received theirs. Since the wedding is right around the corner, I think it’s safe for me to share them.  🙂

  1. They are beautiful. Five years ago, I made my son’s and dil’s invitations, and to this day I think they are more beautiful than anything you can order in stores. And what a personal gift, I think, for them that they can look at it years from now, and say “my mom made these for us”, So special.

    • Yes, I would agree. It will be such a special memory for them. It was a great bonding moment for me and my future daugther-in-law as well 🙂
