Petals & Paisleys

Good Morning Stampin’ Friends! Today I have a fun scrappy project to share with all of you! Yes, I said scrappy! Today’s project was inspired by a variety of scraps that I had lying around on my craft table.  Usually I throw all of my scrap pieces of paper in a big drawer with the intent of using them later. But, as you all probably already know, I just keep collecting scraps and very rarely using them.  So this time, instead of throwing them in a drawer, I created a fun little patchwork type of design on my card.  I think it turned out pretty cute! Take a look!

To make this card, start with a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of soft suede cardstock which will serve as a matte on the front of your card. Now I created this card by cutting down some scrap pieces of the new Petals & Paisleys Designer Series Paper (DSP).  You could easily re-create this card with any scrap pieces of DSP that you have on hand just be sure to coordinate your cardstock colors with your DSP.  The Petals & Paisleys DSP is two-sided so the pieces used on this card are from the same sheet of paper (I just alternated the design when creating the card). Starting from left to right, the DSP pieces are cut as follows:  3/4 x 4 inches, 1 x 4 inches 1 x 4 inches and 1 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches. Start by adhering the 3/4 x 4 inch piece in the upper left hand corner (leaving a a little bit of the soft suede cardstock showing so it served as a matte) then layer the remaining pieces as shown. Tuck a little piece of a doily under the last piece. Cut a 2 1/2 x 1 inch piece of very vanilla cardstock and stamp your sentiment on it. Cut a 1 x 2 3/4 inch piece of soft suede cardstock and adhere it behind the sentiment off setting it to the left of your sentiment. For the finishing touch, tuck a bit of burlap under each side of the sentiment and adhere it to the card with dimensionals. Simple, hey?
