O’ Christmas Tree

As part of my week long celebration of the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog, I have another Christmas card design to share with all of you! It was another one of the favorites from the Christmas event I held in July! This creation showcases a variety of products…and not just those products from the Holiday Catalog!

Let’s start out with the designer paper in which the Christmas Tree is stamped upon!  This Designer Series Paper (DSP) is called Modern Medley and is found in the annual catalog (not the holiday one).  I really like the versatility of this particular DSP as you can use it for Christmas cards (like I did) and you can also use it for everyday cards, wedding cards and so much more!  Check it out here!

The stamp set is called Special Season and it contains some very elegant Christmas images!  I wanted to capture the elegance of this stamp set which is why I chose to stamp the tree image over the top of the DSP that had music notes.  I sponged a bit of crumb cake ink all over the music notes to give it a vintage look. The card was embellished with a bit of cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon and the gorgeous frosted finishes! Once I assembled the card, I added the finishing touch….I bit of crystal effects on the tree sprinkled with some dazzling diamonds!

Card Dimensions: To make this card, start with a piece of basic black cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of cherry cobbler cardstock and a 5 x 3 3/4 inch piece of the Modern Medley DSP. Stamp the tree image, from the Special Season stamp set, onto the lower right hand side of the DSP using Always Artichoke ink. The little Christmas banner is simply a piece of very vanilla cardstock cut to 1 x 4 inches (just large enough to stamp the sentiment)…then just snip the ends to make it a banner. The sentiment is stamped using cherry cobbler ink then I did a bit of crumb cake sponging on and around the sentiment. Enjoy!

    • Hi Linda, Thanks for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed the card 🙂 I have updated the post to include instructions and a supply list. A few of the items are retired as this project is over a year old but you can certainly substitute other supplies and stamp sets to create a similar card. Enjoy! And let me know if you have any other questions!

  1. Thank you! The garland on the tree is actually made with crystal effects and dazzling diamonds glitter. I think the green-blue color is coming through the crystal effects from the ink I used on the tree…it is stamped in always artichoke (which is a darker green). Glad you enjoy it!

  2. Beautiful card! The garland on the tree looks sparkley from the dazzling diamonds but it also looks to have a blue-green color. I really like it. Did you add color or is it just a fluke from the photograph angle?

  3. The base of the card is basic black. I matted it with a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of cherry cobbler cardstock. I cut the music notes designer paper to approximately 4 x 3 3/4 inches. Thanks for your inquiry. Enjoy! 🙂
