Looking for an elegant fun fold card design that stands out from the rest? Today I have an interlocking panel card idea to share which was inspired by Teri Gaines. There are two different ways you can use this design in your card making. The cards feature the beautiful Extraordinary Flora Bundle and coordinating washi tape from Stampin’ Up!®, but feel free to use any stamps and papers you have on hand.
Interlocking Panel Card Design
This interlocking panel card features two panels that overlap and come together in the center, creating a simple closure. The panels rest on top of each other and can be easily lifted apart to open the card, revealing your sentiment or message inside.
Let’s start by creating the card base. Cut a 10-3/4 x 5-1/2″ piece of white cardstock. Score the 10-3/4″ side at 1-5/8″, 3-1/4″, 7-1/2″ and 9-1/8.” Fold on all the score lines to create the fun fold card base.

Next, let’s create the panels for the front of the card. Cut a 3 x 5″ piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Cut a 2-3/4 x 4-3/4″ piece of white cardstock and emboss it. Adhere the two pieces of cardstock together and then adhere it to the left front flap of the card base with liquid glue.
The second panel is slightly smaller as you will start with a 2-1/2 x 4″ piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Add a 2-1/4 x 3-3/4″ piece of embossed white cardstock. Adhere this panel to the right side of the card base with stampin’ dimensionals. It will give just enough lift for the two panels to come together in the center.
Landscape Style
Now that you have a basic idea on how to create the interlocking panels, you can use the measurements to create it in portrait or landscape style. The first card features this design in portrait style. This second card idea features the design decorated in landscape style. No matter which style you prefer, you use the same measurements! Just change the orientation of the card when you decorate it.

The cards feature the Extraordinary Flora bundle and coordinating washi tape. I highly recommend watching the video to see how the washi tape and bundle work together to create the beautiful florals used on these cards.
