Unique Cards Featuring Beautiful Gallery

If you’re like me, you probably love collecting patterned paper. But sometimes it’s tough to cut up that paper, especially if it has a pretty scene or design. If that sounds familiar, you’re going to love what I have planned! In my latest livestream, I featured some unique cardmaking ideas using the brand-new Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!—and let me tell you, this paper is a showstopper.

The Beautiful Gallery collection is bursting with artistic floral prints, brushstroke textures, and modern color combinations that add instant elegance to your cards. Each sheet feels like a mini canvas, making it tough to decide how to cut it up! So today we are going to look at some of my favorite designs for showcasing the patterned paper.

The first card design features a fun way to break up a large design or pattern. Start with a 3 x 5″ piece of patterned paper and cut it into three pieces. The top and bottom pieces are 3 x 1-1/2.” The middle piece is 3 x 2.” Adhere the pieces to a 3-1/4 x 5-1/2″ piece of white cardstock. That little bit of white matting in between the patterned paper breaks up the design and gives it such a pretty look.

The second idea features a fun and simple framing idea. The Beautiful Motifs Bundle has a really cool layering frame die. Simply lay the die over the scene and cut it out. The die actually cuts out three layering frames. However, I decided to us just two of them to create a little recessed frame style look to the card.

Paper Tearing

Now let’s talk about how to use to paper tearing in your card making. One of the Beautiful Gallery patterned papers has a very large floral design. Cut a 2-3/4 x 6″ piece from the patterned paper. You will be left with a 3-1/4 x 6″ piece. Trim both pieces down from 6″ to 5-1/4.” Save the 3-1/4 x 3/4″ piece for the middle of the second card. Tear the paper pieces, as shown, to create the design for each of these cards.

Start with a piece of Basic Beige cardstock for the base of the card. The background for both cards is simply a 4 x 5-1/4″ piece of white embossed cardstock.

The first card features the 2-3/4 x 5-1/4″ torn paper adhered to a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock. The second card features the 3-1/4 x 5-1/4″ torn paper adhered to a 1-1/4 x 5-1/4″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock. Add a greeting and embellish as desired.

Framing Techniques

The Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper has the pretty designs for framing out the different scenes as I shared earlier. However, instead of cutting into the designer paper with the frames, you can create different size frames from cardstock.

For these two cards, I cut a set of three frames from a piece of white cardstock and then another set of frames from a piece of Secret Sea cardstock. The largest frame was used to showcase one of the pretty floral patterned in Beautiful Gallery DSP pack.

The second card simply features two smaller frames layered together. Add a piece of patterned paper behind the frames to create a fun look. Simply cut your patterned paper a little larger than the opening on the frame.

Faux Tile

The last card design idea I have to share features a faux tile look. This card design is similar to the one I shared earlier. However, this time I cut the Beautiful Gallery patterned paper into 1-1/2 x 1-1/2″ squares to create the look of tiles. Start with a 3 x 4-1/2″ piece of patterned paper and then create the 1-1/2″ squares.

Adhere the square tiles to a 3-1/4 x 4-7/8″ piece of cardstock. Add a greeting to the cards and embellish as desired.
