Butterfly Card Designs

Looking for a simple yet unique card design? Today, I’m sharing two butterfly card designs you can easily create with a brand-new die set called Beautiful Butterflies from Stampin’ Up! Whether you’re making a card for a special occasion or just spreading a little joy, these designs will make the recipient feel extra special. And as an added bonus, they are super simple to make!

Fun Fold Design

Interactive cards are always a hit, and this fun fold card is no exception! The butterfly design is die cut right into the card front. Yes, the large butterfly die does all the work as it partially cuts the butterfly design into a piece of cardstock.

Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock scored at 4-1/4 inches. Do not fold on the score line. Place the large Beautiful Butterflies die on the cardstock so the lines on the top of the die are slightly above the score line on the cardstock. Run the cardstock through your embossing machine to cut the butterfly design right into the card front!

The butterfly shape is approximately 3-1/2 inches long. As such I cut down the base of the card so that the bottom of the card was flush with the bottom of the butterfly. The card measures 5-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches when closed.

Of course, you can decorate these fun fold cards using any of the stamp images and die cut shapes from the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle. These are just two of the many different ways you can decorate your butterfly card designs.

Butterfly-Shaped Card

Next, let’s talk about how to take your cardmaking to the next level with this butterfly-shaped card! The concept for creating this style of card is similar to the fun fold.

Start with the same size piece of cardstock except, this time, fold the card stock on the score line. Place the die on top of the cardstock so the lines on the die are slightly above the fold line and run it through your embossing machine. The die will cut through both layers of cardstock creating a beautiful butterfly-shaped card!

This butterfly-shaped card measures 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches when closed. Use stamped images and/or layers of die cut butterflies to decorate the cards!
