Let’s play around with some alternate card ideas featuring the December 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit called Notes from the Heart. The kit includes all the supplies you need to make 9 cards. The cards are beautiful and easy to make. However, by adding just a bit of patterned paper, you can step them up a bit to create 6 alternative ideas.
Paper Pumpkin Kit
First let’s talk about the card designs as featured in the December 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit. The kit includes all the supplies you need to make 9 cards; 3 of each of the 3 different designs.
Typically, I like to cut apart the card bases and envelopes in the Paper Pumpkin kits to create some fun alternative designs. However, this time the card bases and envelopes did not have any pre-printed designs on them. As such, I decided to step up the kit designs by adding layers of cardstock and patterned paper.
Alternate Designs
The first 3 alternate paper pumpkin designs feature the NEW Serene Love Designer Series Paper (DSP). This particular paper is a special release and only available online. It’s actually a returning favorite in fresh NEW colors!
Each alternate design features a cardstock and DSP layer. Here are the cardstock and DSP layers for the first 3 cards:
- Card #1: Old Olive cardstock layer is 1-3/4 x 4-3/4″; DSP layer is 3 x 4-1/2″
- Card#2: Old Olive cardstock layer is 3-1/2 x 1-3/4″; DSP layer is 3 x 4″
- Card#3: Dovetail a 4 x 1-1/4″ piece of DSP and a 3-1/4 x 1/2″ piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock
The last 3 alternate card ideas feature the NEW Shades & Hues Designer Series Paper (DSP). This DSP is also a returning favorite in fresh NEW colors! Here are the cardstock and DSP layers for the last 3 card ideas:
- Card#4: Blackberry Bliss cardstock layer is 3-1/2 x 1″; the two DSP layers are 3-1/2 x 1-1/2″
- Card#5: Blackberry Bliss cardstock layer is 3-1/2 x 1/2″; the DSP layer is 1-1/2 x 4-1/2″
- Card#6: Blackberry Bliss cardstock layer is 1-1/2 x 4-3/4″; DSP layer is 3-1/2 x 4-1/2″
One you add the cardstock and DSP layers; you are ready to add the beautiful floral elements and greetings from the kit!

Love your ideas. I did my first 3 cards with one of the envelopes. I felt that the white was too plain for me so I put the layer behind the flowers.
Thanks so much! Using the envelope for a layer is a great idea too!
Really like the simple touch to step up with elegance.
Thanks so much!
