Paper Scrap Christmas Tree Cards

Looking for a fun way to use up paper scraps? This Christmas Tree idea is a great way to do it!  It’s super simple and you can use any scrap papers. It’s also a great way to add a unique greeting to the card.

The cards feature the Peaceful Season stamp set and the Country Woods Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create this fun card.

Rustic Christmas Tree

Let’s start by talking about the scrap pieces of paper you will need to create the Christmas tree. I am using 1/2-inch-wide scraps. You will need 6 scrap pieces to create the Christmas tree. The length of each piece is as follows (from top to bottom): 3/4, 1-1/4, 2-1/4, 2-3/4, 3-1/4 and 3-3/4 inches.

Choose 3 dark colored scraps and 3 light colored scraps. You want lighter color scrap papers to stamp the words. Stamp the words on the three different pieces before assembling the tree. When creating the tree, alternate the light and dark pieces as shown. Use a 1/4 x 4-1/2 inch piece of scrap paper to create the tree truck. This will also enable you to add the “branches” of the tree easier. Be sure to watch the video to see the assembly in action.

Alternate Paper Scrap Ideas

The fun thing about this Christmas tree idea is that you can make it as festive as you want! I started with the rustic style as I was inspired by some wooden Christmas tree crafts that I saw at a local craft event. Below is another rustic style Christmas tree using gray wood grain paper.

However, you don’t have to create a rustic style Christmas tree. Simply use more festive paper like this second card idea featuring the Take a Bow Designer Series Paper. It gives the tree a whole new look!
