Today I have 9 alternate card designs to share which feature the October 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit called Nests of Christmas. Don’t have this month’s kit? You can certainly use the card layouts with any supplies you have on hand.
Paper Pumpkin Kit Projects
The October 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit includes all the supplies you need to make 8 fun fold cards; 4 of each of the 2 different designs. The kit also includes 8 coordinating envelopes.
I like to start out by creating one of each of the cards as featured in the kit. However, I did modify the inside of cards. I simply cut apart one of the envelopes and one of the other card bases in the kit to use as patterned paper. I decorated the inside panels of the fun fold cards using the envelope and card base papers.
Alternate Designs
The October 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit comes with different card bases which actually have a design printed on the three different panels of the fun fold card base. This makes it so easy to cut up the card base and use it as designer paper for additional card making!
These first two cards feature the dark blue panels from the fun fold cards in the kit. The dark blue pattern was just too bold for me, so I had to cut it into smaller pieces. For the first card, I cut a 2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of the blue patterned paper. The shaded spruce layer is 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches.
For the second card, I started with a 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of one of the blue patterned papers. The center layer is simply a 3-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of embossed white cardstock. The Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder works beautifully with this kit.
The third card idea features a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the blue patterned paper in the background. Add a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch embossed white cardstock layer and the focal point.
Frames & Windows
The next 4 paper pumpkin alternate card ideas feature the window frames or the leftover pieces which pop out of the window frames. Let’s start by looking at some alternate ways to use those leftover pieces which come from the window frames.
The first card features the leftover center piece from the frame on the front of one of the kit card bases. Simply add it to the center of a white embossed card base and then create the focal point.
The second card idea features the leftover rectangular piece from the frame on the front of one of the kit card bases. Add a 3 x 4 inch piece of one of the blue patterned papers behind the shaded spruce piece and then adhere to the card front. Create the focal point with any of the elements from the kit.
The third card idea showcases a fun way to use the frame cut from the card base. Simply add a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of the pool party paper behind the frame. The pool party patterned paper comes from cutting apart one of the card bases in the kit.
The last card idea features a pine branch frame created with one of the Winterly Tree Top dies. Create two different layers with the colored papers from the kit and then add the white frame to create a stunning yet simple card!
Envelope Ideas
The last couple of card ideas feature a fun way to use the envelopes which came in the October 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit. Carefully cut apart the envelope so you have a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece. I made the cuts as close as possible to each edge of the envelope. Place the envelope piece, with the decorative corner, behind one of the frames from the kit. It creates a beautiful corner inside the window of the frame. Trim off any excess paper from the envelope so it fits neatly under the frame.
Now that you have cut apart the envelope, you can use the flap to create a fun design. You will need two envelope flaps to create the design on the second card. Start by cutting a 4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the shaded spruce paper. Adhere the envelope flaps to the top and bottom of the shaded spruce piece. Trim off any excess envelope paper which overhangs the shaded spruce piece. Add a 1-1/2 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper to the center of the card to cover up the seams from the envelope flaps.
