Nests of Winter Card Ideas

Today I have 6 simple card ideas to share which feature a variety of products from the Nests of Winter suite from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use these card layouts with any supplies you have on hand. Just get creative with it!

Nests of Winter

First let’s talk about the Nest of Winter suite from Stampin’ Up! This particular suite of products includes the Winterly Tree Tops bundle, the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper (DSP), a birch wood 3D embossing folder, linen thread, and earth tone gems. It is my favorite suite in the mini catalog as I love all the bird images in the DSP! You can learn more about this product suite HERE.

Before I began creating the cards, I cut out a variety of bird images from the Nests of Winter DSP. Some of the images can be cut out with the Winterly Tree Tops dies while others require the use of a scissors.

To create the layout for the friendship card, start with a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of the blue-colored paper. Add a 1/2 x 5-1/4 inch piece of early espresso cardstock.

The layout for the second card is a 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP and a 1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of early espresso cardstock.

I used different size circle shapes from the Spotlight on Nature die set to create the focal point with the birds.

Thank You Cards

The next two card ideas feature some thank you cards. The cool thing about the Nests of Winter DSP is that you have several different bird images you can use in your card making. All 6 of the card ideas I am sharing today feature different images as the focal point.

The first card idea features a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of white cardstock. I embossed the cardstock with the birch wood 3D embossing folder. The DSP layer is 3 x 3-1/2 inches. The banner was created from a 3/4 x 4 inch piece of Night of Navy cardstock. The layers create such a stunning look for this card.

The second card idea features a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP in the background. The second layer is a 2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of Night of Navy cardstock. Add a large circle shape, one of the bird images and a greeting.

Did you notice that I am not using full circle shapes? I simple cut a little bit off the side of each circle shape just to create a little different look.

Thinking of You Cards

The last couple of card ideas feature some simple yet beautiful cards to let someone know you are thinking about them. The Nest of Winter suite enables you to really create cards for any occasion.

To create the first card, start with two pieces of DSP cut a 1 x 3-1/2 inches. Adhere them to the left and right side of the card front. Add a 4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of embossed white cardstock down the center. Create a large circle shape, add the birds and a greeting. Embellish as desired.

The last card idea features the birch wood paper from the Nests of Winter DSP pack. Start by cutting a 1-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of Gray Granite cardstock. Next, cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of the birch wood DSP. Add the focal point and a greeting.
