Wanna create several cards from one sheet of paper? Learn how to cut up a 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper to create 8 cards! The cards feature the Wildly Flowering Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind this easy one sheet wonder template can be used with ANY patterned paper.
One Sheet Wonder Template
First let’s talk about how to cut up the Wildly Flowering Designer Series Paper (DSP). The One Sheet Wonder template is designed for cutting up a full 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper. Start by cutting a 1-inch strip off the bottom of the 12 x 12 inch sheet. Next, make four cuts at 2-1/2 inches each. You will end up with 4 strips measuring 2-1/2 x 11 inches and one strip measuring 2 x 11 inches.
Take the four 2-1/2 x 11 inch strips and cut them in half at 5-1/2 inches. This will give you eight pieces of patterned paper measuring 2-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches for decorating the 8 card fronts.
The remaining 2 x 11 inch and 1 x 12 inch pieces of patterned paper work perfect for decorating the inside of the cards. Simply cut 8 pieces measuring 5/8 x 5-1/2 inches from the remaining pieces of patterned paper.
You can use this template to create portrait or landscape style cards. As such, be sure to pay attention to directional patterns on your paper when using the template. Be sure to watch the video for some tips on the cutting directional paper.
Wildly Flowering Card Ideas
Once you have used the template to cut the paper, you are ready to create the 8 cards! I like to cut and prep all my supplies to make the assembling of the cards quicker.
For the first set of Wildly Flowering cards, start by cutting 8 standard size card bases from Thick Basic White cardstock. Next, cut 8 pieces of Wild Wheat cardstock at 3 x 3 inches. Cut 8 decorative frames from white cardstock using the Wildflower Designs dies. Finally, create a greeting for each of the 8 cards.
I really just let the paper do all the work! The die cut frame creates a pretty focal point for each of the cards.
While I was creating the scalloped frame for the first set of cards, I was also cutting the label style shape for the second set of cards. The two Wildflower Design dies layer together nicely so I was able to cut them at the same time.
This second set of cards features the same cutting template and design as the first set of cards. I simply changed out the colors and the focal point.
