July 2024 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

Today I have 10 alternate card designs to share which feature the July 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit called Painted Petals. Don’t have this month’s kit? You can certainly use the card layouts with any supplies you have on hand.

Paper Pumpkin Kit Projects

The July 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit includes all the supplies you need to make 9 cards; 3 of each of the 3 different designs. The kit also includes 9 coordinating envelopes.

Look how beautiful these cards are! I have to say it was tough for me to cut apart these beautiful cards…but I’m so glad I did! I have some fun alternate ideas to share which feature bits and pieces of the paper pumpkin kit cards and the pretty coordinating envelopes.

Alternate Ideas

First let’s look at some fun ways to cut apart the card bases in the paper pumpkin kit to create some alternate card designs. The card bases in the kit actually have a design printed on the front and back. This enables me to use the printed designs as patterned paper to create additional cards.

After cutting apart the kit card bases, I decided to use some Mossy Meadow cardstock for the base of my cards. The first card design is simply a recreation of the kit cards. I cut down the kit card base (the card front) to 4 x 5-1/4 inches and adhered it to a Mossy Meadow card base.

The second design features the kit card base (the front of the card base) cut down to 3 x 5-1/2 inches. I added a 3-1/2 x 4 inch piece of green colored paper (the back of one of the card bases) behind the flower paper.

These designs are such a great way to stretch your kit supplies and create a little different layout for your cards.

Envelope Designs

Now that you have some fun ways to use the paper pumpkin kit card bases, let’s look at some alternate ways to use the coordinating envelopes which come in the kit. The envelopes in this month’s kit have the same beautiful floral design as the cards. You can easily cut apart the envelopes to use the floral design and the colored paper which lines the inside of the envelope.

The first three card ideas feature the beautiful floral design from the coordinating envelopes in the kit. Simply cut the floral design, from the left side of the envelope, to 2-3/4 x 4 inches. Be sure to watch the video to see how I cut apart the envelope.

Once you have the floral designs cut from the envelopes, you can use the remaining colored pieces to create these card layouts. The calypso colored paper on the first card is cut to 1 x 4-3/4 inches. The second card features a 3-1/2 x 2-3/4 inch piece of the calypso colored paper behind the daisies.

The third card features a 4-1/4 x 2-3/4 inch piece of the melon mambo colored paper. All the colored papers can be cut from the remaining pieces of the envelope. You can also use the back side of the kit card bases as the patterns are the same.

The last card idea features a 4-3/4 x 3-1/2 inch floral piece cut from the envelope. Add a 1-1/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of melon mambo colored paper and a bit of ribbon. Adhere everything to a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Daisy Card Ideas

The last two card ideas feature a fun way to use the floral element in the paper pumpkin kit separately from the printed design on the card base.

The first card showcases the floral framed element adhered to a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white embossed cardstock. Add a 1 x 4 inch piece of the green colored paper to the bottom of the white cardstock. Create the card base from a piece of Old Olive cardstock.

Remember, you can create alternatives by using the printed designs on the front and back of the kit card bases. The card fronts have the floral design. The back of the kit card bases have different paper colors. To create this layout, cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of the daisy printed design. Cut two 1 x 4 inch pieces of the green colored paper. Adhere all three panels to an Old Olive card base and decorate as desired.
