Charming Duck Pond Window Card Ideas

Let’s create some simple window cards today! And I have two different ways to create a window for your cards. The cards feature the Charming Duck Pond Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any shape to create a window for your cards.

Charming Duck Pond

First let’s talk about creating an easy window on a standard card. For these cards, I am using the beautiful circular shaped die from the Charming Duck Pond bundle to create the window. Not only does the die create a window in the cardstock, but it also adds some cattails, lily pads and other fun elements to enhance the circular shape. Super fun! Place the die in the center of a 4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock and run it through your embossing machine to create the window.

Now that you have the window created, you are ready to put some cute little duck images behind it. The Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper has a variety of different scenes you can use with this window design. However, there is a little trick to cutting the 6 x 6 inch piece of paper so that the ducks appear in the center of the circle.

Start by cutting a 1/2-inch strip from the left side of the 6 x 6 inch paper. Next, cut a 1/2-inch strip from the top of the paper. The last cut is a 1-1/4-inch strip from the bottom of the paper. This will leave you with a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece which you can adhere to the card front. Place the die cut window frame over the top of the images and adhere with a few stampin’ dimensionals.

Fun Fold Window Card

The second card idea features the Charming Duck Pond die cut right into the card front to create the window. This particular card becomes a fun fold once you add the patterned paper on the inside of the card. As with the first card, there is a little trick to cutting the patterned paper for the inside of the card. You want to cut the paper so that the duck images appear in the window when the card is closed.

Start by cutting 1/2 inch off the left side of a piece of the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper. Next, cut a 3-1/2 x 6 inch piece (the middle piece as shown above). We will be using the middle piece to create the fun fold. Score the top of the 3-1/2 x 6 inch piece at 1-1/2 inches. This will create a little flap on the top part of the patterned paper.

Adhere the 1-1/2 inch flap down to the inside of the card. Cut a 3-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere it to the inside of the card so it overlaps onto the flap. Use some of the 1/2-inch scraps to decorate the inside of the card.
