Let’s take a peek into one of the NEW products coming out in the Sept-Dec Mini catalog! The card ideas feature the Winterly Tree Tops collection and were inspired by my participation in the Stampin’ Up! Creativity Now event for demonstrators. Learn more about becoming a demonstrator HERE.
Winterly Tree Tops
The NEW Winterly Tree Tops collection will be available in September with the launch of the new mini catalog. However, I was so inspired by the collection of products and ideas that I wanted to give you a little sneak peek now.
These are some of the cards we made at the Creativity Now event this past weekend. Notice how all the greetings are non-Christmas? This enables us to use this collection of products all year long! Wanna create a Christmas card with these products? Simply use your own Christmas stamp sets to change out the greetings.
There were a total of 6 different project ideas showcased at the event for this suite. I didn’t create them all yet because I started designing my own cards during the event! Haha!
Variation on Designs
The inspiration for the next set of Winterly Tree Tops card ideas came from the projects we made during the event. I simply changed out the colors and added a few things to each of the designs. Although this collection is not available yet, you can certainly use the card layouts with any supplies you have on hand.
The collection includes a package of Designer Series Paper (DSP) called Nests of Winter. One of the fun things about the DSP is that you can use some of the dies to cut out an entire sheet of birds to use in your card making! So, of course, I did just that! Pool Party and Night of Navy are great colors to use with the bird images from the DSP.
The layout for the first card is simply a 3-1/2 x 4 inch piece of embossed white cardstock. The greeting layer is a 5/8 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Basic Beige cardstock. You can add any focal point to the card to finish it off.
The second card idea features a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock in the background. Add a 2 x 3-3/4 inch piece of patterned paper, a bit of ribbon and finish it off with a stamped greeting.
Clever Uses for Scraps
These last two card ideas feature a fun way to use the leftover piece from die cutting the frame of branches. The branch frame die comes in the Winterly Tree Tops bundle. it’s perfect for framing out the birds as showcased in a few of the cards above. However, don’t throw away the leftover piece from the middle of the frame, you can use it in your card making!
This first card showcases the leftover white piece, from creating a frame, as the backdrop for the birds. I simply adhered it to a 3-1/2 x 5 inch piece of Old Olive cardstock to create a fun look!
The second card idea showcases a great way to use that leftover piece as a stencil. Simply lay it in the middle of a 3-5/8 x 5-1/8 inch piece of white cardstock and do a little bit of ink blending with Mossy Meadow ink. After completing the ink blending, turn the stencil 180 degrees and ink blend again. You achieve a fun two-tone effect!
