Take to the Sky One Sheet Wonder

Switching gears today to share a few simple card ideas featuring products from the Take to the Sky suite from Stampin’ Up! The Designer Series Paper (DSP) in this suite has some fun elements you can cut out to create 10-13 cards. It’s such a great suite of products for creating more masculine style cards. And since Father’s Day is right around the corner, I thought it was the perfect time to share.

One Sheet Wonder Template

I just love it when I can use up a full sheet of patterned paper, don’t you? Well, there are two sheets of patterned paper in the Take to the Sky DSP pack that you can cut up and use right away in your card making. The template is already pre-printed on the DSP! How cool is that?

Simply cut apart the 13 different pieces and you are ready to create! Each of the 6 tags measure 2 x 4 inches. The 6 other paper pieces measure 3 x 4 inches. The largest paper piece measures 6 x 4 inches. The template is labeled to show you which card I used each piece on. Of course, I did add a few other pieces of DSP from the pack to create all 10 of the cards that I have to share with you today.

Take to the Sky Card Ideas

Let’s start by talking about the supplies used to create the cards. The colors featured on these cards include Night of Navy, Copper Clay, Smoke Slate and Mossy Meadow. Start by using the one sheet wonder template above to cut the 13 different pieces from the Take to the Sky DSP.

Now you are ready to cut the other layers for each of these cards. I simply used other paper patterns in the Take to the Sky DSP pack to create additional layers.

The additional layers for the first card include a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of the cloud patterned paper. Use the Stylish Shapes Dies to create a circle shape from Night of Navy cardstock. Add a tag and decorate as desired.

For the second card, cut the paper with the gray airplane down to 3 x 5-1/2 inches. Add a 4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of Night of Navy cardstock behind the airplane image. The final layer is a 1 x 4-1/4 inch piece of DSP.

The layers for the third card all come from the one sheet wonder template above. You can decorate the card with images from the stamp set and some clouds cut from other sheets of DSP.

The fourth card features some images stamped directly on the Copper Clay cardstock using Copper Clay ink. Add the 3 x 4 inch paper from the one sheet wonder template. Then add a 3/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of plaid paper and decorate as desired.

Simple Layering

Let’s continue to use some simple layering to create the next set of Take to the Sky cards. These are cards 5-8 in the template. Be sure to use the one sheet wonder template above to gather the different papers.

The fifth card showcases the airplane scene cut from the one sheet wonder template. Add a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of additional DSP to the right side of the card front. Decorate as desired.

For the sixth card, I simply used one of the tags from the one sheet wonder template. The additional layers include a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the cloud DSP and a 2 x 4 inch piece of the gray plaid paper.

The seventh and eighth cards feature a 3 x 4 inch piece of paper and tag cut from the one sheet wonder template. For card #7, cut the 3 x 4 inch piece, in half, to create two pieces measuring 3 x 2 inches. It helped me “stretch” the paper across the card front.

The ninth card design features a tag cut down to 2-1/2 inches which is adhered to a 4-1/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of DSP.

The additional layers for the last card include a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP and a 3/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece.

Video Tutorial

Now you have 10 different card layouts you can use with the pre-printed tags and elements in the Take to the Sky DSP. Of course, you can use these layouts with any patterned papers. Be sure to watch the video to see the creation of a few of these cards. Have a fun and creative day! ~ Lynn
