Layers of Beauty Masking Tips and Ideas

Let’s play around with the Layers of Beauty Bundle today! Not only do I have 8 different card ideas to share which feature this bundle. But I will also give you a fun and simple way to use the masks to decorate the inside of the 4 cards.

Layers of Beauty Masks

The Layers of Beauty bundle includes a stamp set, dies and a set of 5 masks. The masks enable you to add colorful detail to the flowers and can be used in a variety of different ways. These first two cards feature some simple card layouts.

Start by stamping the large floral image on a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. You can use Early Espresso ink or black ink to stamp the image. The masks are numbered 1-5. Start with mask number one and add Fresh Freesia using a blending brush. Remove mask #1 and lay down mask #2 over the image and blend in some Berry Burst ink. For mask #3 use Blackberry Bliss ink. Mask #4 and #5 are for adding color to the leaves. Use Old Olive with mask #4 and Mossy Meadow with mask #5. To clean the masks, simply run them under warm water.

The results are absolutely stunning! The first card simply showcases simple stamping with no layers. The second card features the image popped up on an embossed piece of white cardstock. The Layers of Beauty dies enable you to die cut the floral image. Simply add a few stampin’ dimensionals for more depth and dimension to the card.

These next two card ideas feature the exact same layout as the purple flowers. I simply changed the flower colors to Petal Pink and Calypso Coral. Notice how I also changed the orientation of the second card to a landscape style.

Two for One Masking

The neat thing about these masks is that you can use them over and over again (without cleaning them) to create several cards! These next two card layouts feature a fun way to create two cards from one masked image! Start by stamping the image on a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Add all the different colors using the masks.

Next, take the small rose die from the Layers of Beauty set and cut out the center flower. You will be able to use the images stamped on the 4 x 5-1/5 inch piece of white cardstock and the rose to create two different cards.

On one card, simply add a small circle shape and a few die cut leaves to cover up the area where you cut out the center flower. On the other card, use the rose and a few die cut leaves to decorate it. Be sure to watch the video to see how I created these two cards.

Decorating the Inside of the Cards

Now that you have some fun ways to use the Layers of Beauty bundle to decorate the outside of the cards, let’s talk about the inside of the card. You can certainly stamp and mask any part of the image to decorate the inside of the cards. However, this means that you will have to stamp and mask it 4 different times.

Let’s just use a simple one sheet wonder stamping technique to stamp and mask one image to create a decorative piece of cardstock for the inside of all 4 cards! Start by cutting an 8 x 10-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Draw a light pencil line across the cardstock at 4 inches down the 8 inch side. Turn the cardstock to the 10-1/2 inch side and draw a light pencil line down the cardstock at 5-1/4 inches.

Stamp and mask the flower image in the center of the white cardstock. Be sure to stamp it so you end up with flowers and color in all 4 sections of the cardstock. Once you have completed the stamping and masking, cut the cardstock pieces in half (on the pencil lines). You will end up with four pieces of cardstock measuring 4 x 5-1/4 inches which you can use to decorate the inside of the cards!
