Today I have 8 different alternate card designs to share which feature the May 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit called The Best There Is. I really enjoy cutting apart the supplies in the kit to create alternative designs. It’s such a great way to get the most out of each Paper Pumpkin kit!
Paper Pumpkin Kit
The May 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit includes all the supplies you need to make 9 cards; 3 of each of the 3 different designs. The kit also includes 9 coordinating envelopes. I love the distressed paper and rustic style of these cards.
I like to create one of each of the cards as featured in the kit. However, I save the rest of the supplies to create a variety of alternative designs. There are so many possibilities!
The May 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit comes with three different card bases which actually have the same design printed on the front and back of the card base. This makes it so easy to cut up the card base and use it as designer paper for additional card making! So that’s exactly what I did.
Alternative Designs
The first two alternate designs feature the tree image stamped on circle shapes. The paper pumpkin kit comes with pre-cut circle shapes with the tree image already printed on them. However, you can easily re-create the circle shapes using the Stylish Shapes Dies, Early Espresso ink, and the exclusive stamp set in the kit. Simply die cut a few circles from one of the wood grain envelopes in the kit, stamp the tree image on the circles and you are ready to create!
Besides cutting apart the envelopes in the kit, you can also cut apart the double-sided card bases and other papers in the kit. Start with a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock for the base of the card.
The layers on the first card include a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the dark brown card base and a 2-5/8 x 4 inch piece of embossed white cardstock. There are multiple layers for the second card. Start with a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white embossed cardstock. I used the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder. Add a 1-3/4 x 4-1/2 inch piece cut from the blue card base in the kit. Next, cut a 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inch piece of the wood slat paper.
Rustic Style Cards
The next two paper pumpkin alternatives have more of a rustic style. I love the look of white and different shades of brown together. The focal point for these cards is stamped on a wood grain die cut shape which I created using the Thanks & Beyond dies. This particular die set is available an add-on to this paper pumpkin kit and the previous two kits.
The layout for both of these cards is pretty much the same. I simply changed the look of the card by changing the orientation from portrait style to landscape style. The background layer starts with the dark brown printed paper piece from the kit. Simply cut down the paper to 3-1/4 x 5-1/4 inches. Add a 3/4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of embossed white cardstock (increase that to 1 x 5-1/4 for the second card) and then decorate as desired. The white sprigs on each of the cards come from the kit. They are white on one side and colored on the back. I used the white side to create these cards.
Simple Alternatives
The next two paper pumpkin alternatives feature some simple ways to cut apart the supplies in the kit. Start with a piece of Early Espresso cardstock for the base of the card. The first card showcases a fun way to cut apart the mountain/tree scene paper from the kit. Cut a 1-inch strip from each side of the paper to create the 3 pieces. Then, simply adhere them across the card front leaving a little space in between. Embellish with a greeting and die cut element from the kit.
The second card features a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of wood grain paper cut from one of the envelopes in the kit. Stamp the tree image, using Early Espresso ink, on each side of the paper. Cut a 1 x 4-1/8 inch piece of the dark brown card base, snip the end into a banner and adhere it down the center of the card front. To finish it off, add the greeting on one of the die cut shapes from the kit.
Thanks & Beyond Dies
The last two paper pumpkin alternatives feature some fun ways to use the label shape from the Thanks & Beyond die set. To create the design on the first card, cut three shapes from three different pieces of paper. Next, cut the shapes in half. The colorful wood patterned shape is cut in half from point to point. While the wood grain and blue shapes are cut in half across the shapes (leaving the points intact). Die-cut another shape from a piece of the wood grain envelope and stamp the tree image on it. Arrange the pieces on the card front as shown. Add a little 1/2-inch-wide strip of pool party cardstock across the bottom.
The second card idea features a 3-3/4 x 2-1/2 inch piece of the colorful wood patterned paper in the background. However, I die cut the label shape for the first card from the center of the paper used on this card. Adhere the wood patterned paper to a 4 x 2-3/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Die cut another wood grain piece from one of the envelopes, stamp the tree image on it and adhere it to the card as shown.
I recommend watching the video to see the creation of these two cards in action!
