Learn how to use the paper piecing technique in your card making! It’s a fun and simple way to use patterned paper to accent stamped images.
The cards feature the NEW 2024-2026 In Color Collection and the Country Flowers Bundle from Stampin’ Up! These NEW products will be available beginning in May 2024. However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand with this card design.
Paper Piecing
First let’s talk about the paper piecing technique! It’s a great way to accent your stamped images and it requires very little effort. Start with an image that would typically require the use of markers or pencils to add color. The less detailed the image, the better for this technique.
For this technique, I am using one of the images from the NEW Country Flowers Bundle which will be available in May 2024 with the launch of the new Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog.
Stamp the image on a scrap piece of white cardstock using black ink. Stamp the exact same image on a piece of patterned paper using black ink. Cut out the image on the patterned paper using a scissors. You can use the whole image or just a part of it.
For the cards I am sharing today, I simply cut out the center of the teapot with a scissors. Color the spout and handle of the teapot with a stampin’ blend and then adhere the patterned paper piece to the center of the teapot on the white cardstock. Only use a die to cut out the full image which is on the white cardstock. Do not use a die to cut out the patterned paper piece; use a scissors and cut directly on the stamped black line.
In Color Collection
Besides sharing the paper piecing technique, I also wanted to showcase some of the new Stampin’ Up! products coming out in May 2024 with the launch of the annual catalog. There are 5 new colors which are part of the 2024-2026 In Color Collection. Every year Stampin’ Up! launches 5 new colors! This year’s colors include Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Pretty in Pink, Shy Shamrock and Summer Splash.
Each of these cards feature one of the new In Colors and a brand-new bundle of products called Country Flowers. However, you can use this card layout with any supplies you have on hand. Get all the measurements and details for this card layout by downloading the printable tutorial below.
