Corner Closure for Fun Fold Cards

Learn how to create an easy corner closure for your fun fold cards! And I have two different ways you can use this technique in your card making. Besides the easy closure, this fun fold card design enables you to create two fun fold cards from one piece of cardstock without having any leftover scraps!

The cards feature the Cutest Cows Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand with fun fold design.

Creating the Fun Fold Design

First let’s talk about how to create the fun fold card design. Start by cutting an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock in half at 4-1/4 inches. You will end up with two pieces of cardstock measuring 4-1/4 x 11 inches. So that means you can create two of these fun fold cards from one piece of cardstock!

Take one of the 4-1/4 x 11 inch pieces of cardstock and score the 11-inch side at 5-1/2 inches. Cut off a 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece from the front of the card. Save this piece to finish off the front flap of the fun fold card.

Add a 2-3/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper to the 3-inch-wide flap on the left front side of the base of the card. Once you add the patterned paper, you are ready to add the cut off piece to that flap. Take the 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece which was cut from the card front and adhere it to the front flap on the card base. I recommend watching the video to see the creation of the fun fold in action!

Creating the Corner Closure

As with most card bases, you can use them to create cards in portrait or landscape style. And this fun fold card is no exception. The only difference between these two cards is how they are decorated. The first one features the fun fold card in a landscape or horizontal orientation. For this second card, I simply turned the card base vertically to decorate it in portrait style.

Now that you know how to create the base of the fun fold card, you are ready to create the closure. Cut a 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 inch piece of Pecan Pie cardstock. Next, cut a 2 x 2 inch piece of the gingham paper. Cut both of these square pieces in half, diagonally, from corner to corner. You will end up with 4 triangular pieces. You only need two of these triangular pieces to create one closure.

Adhere the triangular patterned paper to the triangular cardstock piece. Add a few mini stampin’ dimensionals around the outside edges of the triangle and adhere to the corner of the card front so it overlaps onto one of the corners of the fun fold flap. The fun fold flap should be able to freely tuck and un-tuck from that corner closure.
