How to Make a Diagonal Joy Fold Card

Learn how to make a diagonal joy fold card. It’s like two fun fold cards rolled into one! And I have two different ways you can use this fun fold design in your card making.

The cards feature the Easter Lilies Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand with this fun fold design.

Diagonal Joy Fold

First let’s talk about how to create the base of this fun fold card. The base of the card consists of the diagonal fold. Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create a standard card base. Open the card base and place it in your paper trimmer on an angle. Make a diagonal cut from the top left side of the card front (by the score line) down to the right lower corner of the card front.

Next, let’s create the second fun fold section for the card. Cut a 3-1/4 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches. This second fun fold section is adhered to the center of the inside of the diagonal fun fold card base. However, before adding the second fun fold section, be sure to a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of embossed white cardstock (or patterned paper) to the inside of the diagonal fold card base.

Landscape Style

As you know, I love to take a card design and use it in a couple different ways! So, of course, I had to create this Diagonal Joy Fold card in portrait and landscape style. This card is simply decorated in the horizontal or landscape orientation. The measurements for creating the card base or the same as previously described. However, you get a whole new look when you change the orientation of the card.

Both cards feature images and die cut shapes from the Easter Lilies Bundle. However, you can use any supplies you have on hand with this fun fold design! For more Easter card ideas, check out my latest post featuring the Excellent Eggs Bundle HERE.
