Today I have a variety of card ideas to share featuring Textured Timber stamp set and products from the Flowering Zinnias Collection. These products are just two of the many fun NEW online exclusives from Stampin’ Up! being released on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Simply Zinnias
First let’s talk about the new Flowering Zinnias Collection. This suite of products includes the Simply Zinnias bundle, Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper (DSP), the Zinnias 3D embossing folder and some adhesive-backed shiny sequins. It’s a gorgeous product suite with bright cheerful colors.
The first card really showcases the beauty of the designer series paper. It’s a simple layout featuring a 1 x 5-1/4 inch piece of the green striped patterned paper and a 3 x 5-1/4 inch piece of the flower paper. Adhere them together side by side and just let the paper do all the work! Minimal embellishments are needed.
The second card idea showcases the DSP, embossing folder and one of the dies from the Simply Zinnias set. There are several different layers to this card. Start with a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the green striped DSP. Add a 3 x 4-1/2 inch piece of the pink patterned paper to the center of the card front. Cut a 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock and emboss it with the Zinnias 3D embossing folder. Add a 1-1/2 x 3 inch scrap piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock behind the embossed piece. The flower is cut, with a scissors, from the DSP. The stem is created with a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock and one of the Simply Zinnias dies.
Textured Timber
The next set of card ideas feature some fun ways to use the Textured Timber images. There are 4 different wood grain images in this set. I decided to use the largest image in the set to create a little fence and create style background for my cards.
Let’s talk about how to create the fence. Start with four pieces of Crumb Cake cardstock measuring 3/4 x 5 inches. Snip one of the pieces into an angled fence post. You can then use that piece as a template to cut the tops of each of the other three pieces. Once you have created the fence posts, stamp the large Textured Timber image over the top of each piece using Pecan Pie ink. Next, cut two pieces of Crumb Cake cardstock at 1/2 x 3-3/4 inches. Stamp the wood grain image over these two pieces as well. Use a sponge dauber on the edges of all the pieces to create a worn look. Be sure to watch the video HERE to see the assembly of the fence in action!
The second card idea features the Textured Timber image stamped three times across a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock using Pecan Pie ink. Cut two pieces of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3/4 x 4-1/4 inches. Stamp those two pieces with the large wood grain image. Use a sponge dauber to add ink on the edges and adhere to the top and bottom of the card front with dimensionals. It gives the impression of a wood crate.
You can use any coloring tools you have on hand to color in the flowers. I used a variety of watercolor pencils and a blender pen to add color to these flowers.
Monochromatic Rustic Style Cards
The last two card ideas feature a monochromatic rustic style design. You can see the first card features the exact same “crate” idea for the background as previously described. However, this time I didn’t add color to the flowers. Simply stamp the flower image on a scrap piece of Early Espresso cardstock using versamark. Sprinkle the image with white embossing powder, tap off the excess powder and heat to set the image. I really love the monochromatic look and the rustic style of the card.
For the second card, I am featuring the same type of monochromatic flower. However, this time the flower is adhered to an embossed background. Of course, I also did a little bit of paper tearing on the edge.
