Today I have 6 different masculine card ideas to share which feature the Trusty Toolbox Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! This particular paper pack is one of the many different items you can choose for free with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration! And, of course, the paper coordinates with the Trusty Tools Bundle!
Trusty Toolbox
First let’s talk about the Trusty Toolbox Designer Series Paper (DSP). There are 12 different patterns you can use to create some great masculine themed cards. A few of the sheets of DSP have actual tool shapes right in the pattern. And, of course, the dies from the Trusty Tools Bundle cut out some of those shapes from the DSP. You can also cut out the other tools with a scissors so that you can use them in your card making as well.
The colors in the DSP provided the inspiration for the cards I am sharing today. Crushed Curry, Copper Clay, and Early Espresso are the cardstock and ink colors used to create these cards. The layout for the first card features 3 pieces of DSP measuring 3/4 x 5-1/8 inches. Simply adhere the DSP to the left side of a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock and then adhere to a Copper Clay card base. The focal point is simply one of the tools cut from the DSP and a greeting.
The layout for the second card is a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock on a Crushed Curry card base. Add a 2 x 4 inch piece of DSP down the center of the Early Espresso cardstock. Cut out a variety of different tools from the DSP. Arrange the tools on the top part of the card front. Stamp a greeting on one of the die cut shapes and adhere it to a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Copper Clay cardstock.
Peg Board Design
Besides using the various tool shaped dies in the Trusty Tool Bundle, I also focused in on the peg board die from the set. This die makes a fun and simple focal point for your cards as it’s a great place to “hang” all those tools! To create the peg board, cut a 2-1/2 x 3-7/8 inch piece of cardstock. Use the peg board die to add the holes in the cardstock piece. You can matte out the peg board by adding a 2-3/4 x 4-1/8 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock behind it.
Once you have created the peg board, you are ready to add the tools! Simply cut out a variety of different tools from the Trusty Toolbox DSP to add to the peg board. You can also add a bit of DSP in the background before adding the peg board to the card. The first card features a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of the ruler patterned paper on the bottom of the card front. The second card features a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP down the right side of the card front. The peg board for this card has a 3-1/2 x 3 inch piece of the grid paper behind it.
Fun Fold Cards
The last two card ideas feature some simple fun folds. It’s a great way to showcase some of the fun patterned papers in the Trusty Toolbox DSP pack. To create the fun fold card case, start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create a standard card base. Next, cut off a 1-1/4 inch piece from the card front to create the fun fold.
The key to decorating this fun fold card is to add a piece of DSP to the inside of the card. The DSP will show through to the outside of the card when the card is closed. So, for example, the first fun fold card features a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the peg board DSP adhered to the right side of the inside of the card. Notice how the paper on the outside and inside of the card is visible. The second card idea uses the same fun fold card base measurements as the first design. However, it is decorated in landscape style instead of portrait style.
