Bright Skies

One of my favorite things about Stampin’ Up! products is that everything coordinates! The Bright Skies Bundle (stamp and die set) coordinates with the Sunny Days Designer Series Paper. The colors in the paper are the inspiration for the 6 different card ideas I am sharing today. These first couple of card ideas really showcase some of the fun spring-time images in the Bright Skies stamp set. You can easily create a cheerful scene with the flowers, the sun and clouds. Plus, they are super simple to create!

The first card is simply a variety of die cut stamped images and clouds arranged on a white card front to create a spring-time scene. Start by cutting a 2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock. Use one of the scallop dies from the Bright Skies set to create the piece for the bottom of the card. Make this piece large enough to stamp a greeting. I actually used a greeting from the Everyday Details stamp set as I thought it was perfect for this card.

For the second card, I simply let the Sunny Days Designer Series Paper do all the work. Cut a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the patterned paper and adhere it to the card front. Next, cut a 1 x 4-1/4 inch piece of a different blue patterned paper and adhere it to the bottom of the card front. Cut a scalloped shape from a 1 x 4-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere to the bottom of the card. Then add a variety of clouds shapes, a greeting and a little flower to decorate it. Super simple and so pretty!

This last card idea features the flowers as the focal point in the center of the card front. The focal point is simply a few flowers, the sun and a greeting stamped on a scallop shape. Adhere everything to a 3 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock with a 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock for the matte.

Sunny Days

The last couple of card ideas actually build upon each other. As you may know, I really enjoy using up my scraps right away! However, sometimes when I am creating, I will strategically cut different shapes from the center of a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of paper. This enables me to use the shape I cut AND the negative space leftover from creating the shape. And that’s exactly what I did with these last 3 cards.

The first two cards showcase the use of the negative space or the window which was left in the paper after creating two different size cloud shapes. For the first card, I cut a very large cloud shape from the center of the paper. I simply adhered the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of paper (with the cloud shaped hole) to my card front. It creates a little window which I can decorate with the sun, clouds and flowers.

The second card also features a cloud window in the center of a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of the sun patterned paper. This cloud was a little smaller in size. Simply add a different piece of patterned paper behind the window and decorate as desired.

Once you create the two different size clouds from two different pieces of patterned paper, you can use them to create a third card. Here I simply layered a variety of different clouds shapes together to create a fun background.
