The January 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit is called Lovely Lavender. The kit contains all the supplies you need to create 8 cards and 4 tags. In this post, I will focus on some alternate ways to use the exclusive stamp set and the kit supplies to create additional cards.
Paper Pumpkin Kit
The January 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit features 2 different card designs as well as a tag. The kit comes with enough supplies to create 8 cards; 4 of each of the 2 different designs. The kit also includes 4 tags you can create for gifting. Of course, I will show you how to take those tags and turn them into cards!
These are the 3 different card and tag designs you can create with the supplies in the kit. There are 5 different stamp images in the exclusive stamp set which comes in the kit. Plus, there is also an add on die set you can get to use with this kit and with the next 2 kits! The add-on die set is called the Love of Spring Dies. This die set includes 4 different dies which coordinate with the January, February and March Paper Pumpkin kits! Learn more about these dies HERE.
Kit Card Base Ideas
One of my favorite things to do when creating alternative card designs is to cut up the decorative card bases which come in each kit. Typically, the card bases have a design on the front and back of each one. This enables me to cut apart the card bases and use them as patterned paper to make additional cards.
One of the card bases in this month’s kit featured the flowery pattern on the front and the purple watercolor pattern on the back. I simply cut apart the card bases in the kit to create alternate design. The layers for the first card feature the two different card base patterns. The purple piece measures 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches. The flowery piece is 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inches. The vellum layer is 3-1/4 x 2-1/2 inches. Add one of the foliage die cut shapes from the kit. The “love” greeting is simply heat embossed in white on a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock. I cut out the work with a scissors and adhered it to a 1 x 3 inch piece of embossed white cardstock.
The second card idea features the same flowery pattern cut from one of the card bases. This time I cut a 3 x 4-1/4 inch piece. Most of the elements on this card came from the kit. I did use one of the paper butterflies from the Perennial Lavender Suite. This particular suite of products coordinates with this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. The love greeting is adhered to a 3/4 x 3-3/4 inch piece of the polka dot paper.
Kit Envelopes
Now the brown paper with white polka dots is the pattern on the other card base from the kit. It is also the same pattern on the envelopes. You can easily cut apart the card base or envelopes to obtain different pieces of this paper to use for additional card making.
This card features pieces cut from the card bases and the envelopes. The flowery background piece measures 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inches and is cut from one of the card bases. Adhere the flowers to a 3 x 4-1/2 inch piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and adhere to the center of the card front. The brown with white polka dot piece is cut from the envelop and measures 3-1/2 x 2 inches. Decorate as desired.
Kit Tags
The next two card ideas feature some alternate ways to use the 4 tags which come in the January 2024 paper pumpkin kit. The first card showcases the tag as the focal point on an embossed white background. This is the easiest way to use the tag. You can add a little gem on the top of the tag to cover up the hole.
The second card idea still uses the tag as the focal point. However, this time I added a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the polka dot paper and a 1 x 4 inch piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock. Cut a 1 x 3 inch piece of white cardstock and emboss it. Add the “love” greeting to the white embossed cardstock and decorate as desired.
Die Cut Elements
The January 20204 Paper Pumpkin kit came with a variety of different die cut elements for creating the kit cards. I decided to use those elements to create additional cards. I love the look of white on white. As such, I cut a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock and embossed it with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. Then I arranged the different elements from the kit on the white background. It creates such a stunning look!
Using Up Scraps
The last couple of cards ideas are simply just a great way to use up scraps. I had a few scrap pieces of the card bases leftover, so I decided to create two different designs. The first card features a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of the flowery paper and a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the purple paper. Cut both of these pieces from one of the card bases in the kit. The focal point features the paper butterfly with a bit of ink blending.
The second card idea is one I use a lot when I am trying to use up scraps. It consists of 5 different pieces of paper cut to 3/4 x 3-1/2 inches. Simply arrange them across the card front and decorate as desired.
