Let’s create a few vintage style cards using the Detailed Dogwood stamp set from Stampin’ Up! This particular stamp set is one of the many different items you can choose for FREE with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration! This is such a great set for creating vintage style cards. And, as such, I have 6 different card ideas to share with you today!
Detailed Dogwood
First let’s talk about the vintage style and colors used to create the first 3 cards. Whenever I am creating the worn or vintage style look. I tend to use browns and pinks. For these cards, I am using Petal Pink and Pecan Pie. These colors go so well together. The Detailed Dogwood stamp set has a variety of grunge style images that you can use to create the vintage style look.
The key for the vintage style look is to do a bit of paper tearing and sponging to create a worn look on the cards. To create the first card, start with a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Pecan Pie. Tear both sides of this piece to create the background for the focal point. I recommend watching the replay of this week’s livestream for some tips on coloring the flowers and creating this card.
The second Detailed Dogwood card idea features a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Pecan Pie cardstock which is torn down the right side. This enables you to add a 1 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Petal Pink cardstock behind the torn section. Stamp a variety of images across the torn cardstock using Pecan Pie ink. Next, emboss the cardstock using the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder and sponge some Pecan Pie ink across it.
The last card features an embossed 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of Pecan Pie cardstock in the background. You can use a blending brush or a sponge to add ink across the raised areas from embossing. Cut a 3-1/4 x 4-1/2 inch piece of the Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper (DSP). Add a variety of stamped images to the DSP before adhering to the card front.
Calypso Coral
The last couple of card ideas feature the Detailed Dogwood flower images in Calypso Coral. Notice the paper tearing and the sponging of color on various pieces for each of these cards. You can use a sponge or use a blending brush to add the brown color to cardstock and to patterned paper.
The first card idea features a white card base. I simply embossed the front of the card and then lightly sponged the Pecan Pie ink across the embossed area. Add a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper to the right side of the card front. Next, cut a 1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. Stamp the dots on the Calypso Coral cardstock using Pecan Pie ink. Be sure to sponge the Pecan color across these pieces to create the “worn” or vintage style look. Cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Matte out the patterned paper on a 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Pecan Pie cardstock. Decorate as desired.
The second card features a bit of papering tearing on an angle. Check out the livestream HERE to get the measurements and see the creation of the second card in action.
The last card idea features a 3-3/4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of embossed and torn Pecan Pie cardstock. Once you complete the paper tearing on the top and bottom of the cardstock, it will be less than 5 inches in length. Emboss this piece and lightly sponge Pecan Pie ink across the cardstock. Cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Stamp a variety of different images and sponge the edges with a bit of Pecan Pie ink. Decorate as desired.

What an awesome color combo and vintage design on these cards! I’ll finish watching the video. I won’t be able to order the Pecan CS until February. I do have the ink so perhaps I can find another stamp set and explore!
