Let’s play around with a NEW stamp set called Watercolor Melon. And I have 6 different card ideas to share with you. This stamp set is one of the many items you can choose for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration. Although Sale-A-Bration does not officially start until January 2024, I thought I would give you a sneak peek of the fun products coming our way.
Watercolor Melon Ideas
First let’s talk about this Watercolor Melon stamp set. This particular stamp set has some fun watermelon images but no greetings or sentiments. I decided to use the large SWEET image from the Sweetest Cherries stamp set. The “friend” image comes from the Darling Details set. However, keep in mind you can use any greetings or sentiments you have on hand to create cards for a variety of different occasions.
The first card idea features all different colors of cardstock. Sweet Sorbet, Garden Green and Black cardstock make up the different pieces on the left side of the card. Stamp the seeds on a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Sweet Sorbet cardstock to create your own patterned paper. Add a 1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Garden Green and a 1/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of black cardstock. Stamp the watermelon image on a scrap piece of white cardstock using Sweet Sorbet and Garden Green ink. You can punch out the watermelon images with the Modern Oval Punch which is available right now!
The layout for the second card features a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of Sweet Sorbet in the background. Cut a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere it over the Sweet Sorbet piece. Add a 2 x 3 inch piece of patterned paper and then decorate as desired.
Background Stamping
The next two Watercolor Melon card ideas feature a stamped background. You can use images from the Watercolor Melon stamp set to create the background as shown in the first card. You can also use a background stamp, such as the Sketched Plaid, to create a fun background. Stamp the images using the same color ink as your card base. Both of these cards feature Garden Green cardstock and ink to create the background.
The first card showcases some simple stamping directly on the Garden Green card base. The large watermelon and leaf image were perfect for this technique. The focal point layers include a 2-1/4 x 3-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. The black cardstock matte is 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches.
The second card idea features the sketched plaid design stamped on a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of Garden Green cardstock using Garden Green ink. Create your focal point with different watermelon images and then add a greeting. The greetings for these cards come from the Charming Sentiments and Sweet Citrus stamp sets.
Thank You Cards
You can also use the Watercolor Melon stamp set to create some thank you cards. The greetings for these cards come from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. They are heat embossed in white on some black cardstock. The layouts for these cards are very similar in that they both feature a 3 x 4 inch piece of paper. The first card features a 3 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper adhered to a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. The card is decorated with a few watermelon slices, a bit of ribbon and a greeting.
The second card also features a 3 x 4 inch piece of paper but this time, it’s a piece of stamped cardstock. The cardstock is matted out by two square pieces of black cardstock measuring 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 inches. These are very simple designs and a great way to use a 3 x 4 inch piece of paper.
