Today I have some quick and simple Santa gift packaging ideas I want to share with you. These are perfect little last-minute projects you can whip up in a pinch this holiday season. And the best part is, they require very few supplies!
Santa Gift Box Idea
First let’s talk about how to create the Santa gift box. Start with two pieces of Real Red cardstock measuring 6 x 6 inches. Score three sides of each piece of cardstock at 1-1/2 inches. Basically, you will be scoring the left, right and bottom of the cardstock. The top of the cardstock pieces should only have vertical score lines (no horizontal score line).
Cut two pieces of white cardstock and two pieces of black cardstock at 1 x 6 inches. Score all 4 pieces at 1-1/2 and 4-1/2 inches. Tear about a 1/4 inch off each of the white pieces so you end up with two torn pieces of white cardstock 6 inches long. Adhere the torn white cardstock to the top of the Real Red cardstock (line up the vertical score lines). Adhere the black cardstock across the center of the Real Red cardstock (line up the vertical score lines).
Fold both 6 x 6 inch pieces of cardstock on all the score lines. Snip the 1-1/2 inch sections of the bottom of ONE of the 6 x 6 inch red cardstock pieces using a scissors (refer to Picture #1). Cut the 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inch sections out of the bottom corners of the SECOND 6 x 6 inch piece of red cardstock (refer to Picture #2). You can also use your scissors to taper the middle section a bit for ease in assembling (see Picture#2).
Now we are ready to adhere the two 6 x 6 inch pieces together to create the gift box. The flaps we created on the first 6 x 6 inch piece will help us assemble the box. I recommend watching the video to see the assembly in action! Once you have the gift box assembled, you can add the buckle to the belt. The buckle features a 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 inch piece of silver glimmer paper and a 1 x 1 inch piece of black cardstock. Adhere the two squares together and then adhere it to the center of the bag as shown.
Cards & Tags
The last two Santa ideas feature a card and a tag. When you cut the 6 x 6 inch pieces of Real Red cardstock for the gift bag, you end up with several pieces of cardstock leftover. I simply took those leftover pieces, cut them down a bit to create a few more Santa projects. The first Santa idea project is a little gift tag idea. Cut down one of the leftover pieces to 2-1/2 x 5 inches. Score the 5-inch side in half at 2-1/2 inches to create a little card. This little 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 inch card works perfect for decorating a little bag or box! You can easily add Santa’s belt across the card. Just cut the belt at 1/2 x 2-1/2 inches. The buckle is 3/4 x 3/4 inch piece of silver glimmer paper with a 1/2 x 1/2 inch black square in the middle.
The last project idea is another card. This card is slightly smaller than a standard size card as it measures 3-3/4 x 5 inches when closed. The card is smaller because I wanted to use up the leftover red cardstock. Of course, you can create a standard size Santa card if you prefer not to create this smaller version.
