Flight and Airy Card Ideas

Let’s play around with some beautiful NEW Designer Series Paper called Flight and Airy. And I have 4 simple card ideas to share with you. This DSP pack is one of the many items you can choose for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  Although Sale-A-Bration does not officially start until January 2024, I thought I would give you a sneak peek and tell you how YOU can start enjoying these products now.

Flight and Airy Focal Point

First let’s talk about how to use the Flight and Airy Designer Series Paper (DSP) to create a focal point for a card. This DSP has a variety of beautiful patterns which can be used to create some simple yet stunning cards. The first two card ideas feature a focal point created from one of the designs in the DSP. Simply take a die shape, like a circle or square, and cut out the image directly from the DSP. You can use that image as your focal point! I love it when the DSP does all the work!

The Stylish Shapes Die set is perfect for creating these two focal points. The first card features the use of the largest square shaped die in the set. I simply cut the design out of the DSP with the square die and popped the shape up on the card with a few stampin’ dimensionals. You can add a bit more depth and dimension to the card by embossing the card front with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. Add a 1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Boho Blue cardstock and a greeting. Super simple!

The second card simply features the use of circle shape. The concept is the same; just cut the focal from the DSP using the circle shape. I trimmed off a little bit of the right side of the circle, using my paper trimmer, so that I could create a little different look. The background for the card features a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Boho Blue cardstock and a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock.

Using the Negative Space

The last two card ideas feature the negative space leftover on the Flight and Airy DSP. The negative space is simply a window or opening left in the DSP from cutting out the circle and square shapes. You can easily use these pieces of DSP to create more cards! Be strategic when you are cutting your DSP so you can use the negative space when you cut out your focal point for the first two cards.

Basically I started by cutting a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the Flight and Airy DSP. Next, I cut the circle shape from the center of that piece. This enabled me to use the circle shape to create one card and then use the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch DSP to create a second card. The same process was used to create the square shape cards. Only this time I cut the square shape from a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of DSP.

The focal point for each of these two cards came from a different piece of the Flight and Airy DSP. I simply cut out the bird and branch image with a scissors and then popped them up in the circle or square “window” on each card.
