The November 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit is called Warm Wishes. The kit contains all the supplies you need to create 8 Christmas Treat Boxes. However, today I will focus on some alternate ways to use the exclusive stamp set and other kit supplies to create some standard size cards including a fun fold!
Paper Pumpkin Kit
The November Paper Pumpkin kit contains all the supplies you need to make 8 treat boxes; 4 of each of the 2 different designs. The treat boxes are pre-scored for easy assembly. Each treat box has the front and back of a beautiful holiday house printed right on them. The picture on the left features the two different treat box designs.
The picture on the right shows how I cut apart each treat box design to create four different pieces to use in card making! Yes, I decided not to create any treat boxes. Instead, I cut them apart to create a few standard size cards and a fun fold card.
Fun Fold Alternative
Simply cut apart the treat boxes, as shown above, by cutting the treat boxes into 4 separate pieces. Cut the front of the house away from the base of the treat box. Make a second cut below the next score line to cut the back of the house away from the base. The base of the treat box is about 1-1/2 x 3-7/8 inches (the little blue piece in between the front and back of the house). Cut this piece down to 1-1/4 x 3-7/8 inches as it will be used to create the fun fold card. Cut directly on the score line in between the two roof lines.
Now that you have the treat box cut into 4 pieces, you are ready to create some cards! The first card is an easel style fun fold card. Start with a 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of white cardstock. Score the 11-inch side at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 inches to create the base of the easel card. Emboss the easel section with the Snowflake Sky embossing folder. Adhere the front of the house to the easel section of the fun fold card using stampin’ dimensionals. Tear a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere it across the bottom part of the easel card front with a few dimensionals.
Stamp a greeting on 3/4 x 3-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Take the 1-1/4 x 3-7/8 inch piece of the treat box, flip it over to expose the green stripe design and adhere the greeting to this piece. Adhere the greeting to the inside bottom part of the easel card using stampin’ dimensionals. This greeting serves as the stand for the easel card!
Simple Alternative
The next two card ideas feature a fun way to use the back of the house from each of the paper pumpkin treat boxes. Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create the base of the card. Emboss the front of the card with the Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder (or your favorite folder). Take the extra roof line and adhere it to the top part of the house with a few dimensionals. This will give extra depth to the top part of the house. Plus, you will be able to use the extra leftover piece from cutting apart the treat box.
Cut a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Tear off the top part of the white cardstock and stamp a greeting on it. Adhere this piece to the bottom of the card front with stampin’ dimensionals. Add a bit of liquid glue to the back of the house and tuck it under the torn part of the white cardstock with the greeting. Embellish as desired. You can create two cards from each treat box; a simple card and a fun fold card! A total of 16 cards in all!
Exclusive Stamp Set
The last two alternative card ideas feature some of the images from the exclusive stamp set which came in the November 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit. For these two cards, start with a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Cut out the large square image from the top part of the white cardstock using the stylish shapes die. Use the square image to create the first card. The square negative space left in the center of the white cardstock can be used to create the second card.
Stamp the door image on white cardstock using Early Espresso ink. Color in the image with your favorite coloring tools. These cards feature the use of Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Pecan Pie stampin’ blends.
The layout for the first card is simply a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock for the base of the card. Add a 2 x 3-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper and the square shape to the center of the card front. Create the greeting by tearing a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. For the finishing touch, add a 1/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Embellish as desired.
The layout for the second card really involves using the 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Emboss it with your favorite embossing folder. Stamp and color the image on a separate piece of white cardstock if you are using stampin’ blends. Stampin’ blends will bleed through cardstock so you do not want to color the image directly on the white card base. Add a 1/2 x 4 inch piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and a greeting created with the Stylish Shapes dies.
